Kampala 1 Day Tour Lake Mburo National Park is a wildlife day trip to Lake Mburo National Park located only 3 Hours away from Kampala by road. Lake Mburo is one of Uganda's smaller national parks but well worth a visit with a mix of lakes and plains and fantastic for bird watching.

Game drives, walks and boat trips can be enjoyed here and it is within easy reach of Kampala and ideally situated for a stopover between the capital and the gorilla parks to the west.

The park covers an area of around 260km square and has a good mix of habitats and scenery with rolling grasslands and hills and areas of acacia forest.

There are five main lakes, the largest of which is Lake Mburo itself lying within the boundaries of the park. Many plains animals are found here such as zebra, buffalo, topi, eland, bush pigs and plenty of hippos in the waterways.

Lake Mburo National Park wetland areas support a huge variety of birdlife with over 350 species. Of the many antelope species that thrive here the sitatunga are more unusual and found around the swamp areas.

Predators here include leopard, jackal, hyena and the smaller mongoose species which can be seen after dark. Lions were hunted to extinction in the 70s and their current status in the area is unknown.

Vervet monkeys and baboon are common here. There is a tented camp near the lake inside the park and a lovely eco-lodge just outside the park.

Kampala 1 Day Tour Lake Mburo National Park highlights: Equator for photographs and ‘polar-water experiment', game drive, boat trip on Lake Mburo and al local craft village visit (Mpabire Village).

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip from Kampala is a full day tour to Jinja approximately one hour’s drive from Kampala. White Water Rafting is mainly done on the River Nile in Jinja.

Our White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip starts on the west bank of the Nile river above Overtime rapid and finishing near Hairy Lemon Island, about 20 kilometers down river.

The route includes eight Grade 3–5 rapids (two are Grade 5: Overtime and The Bad Place/ Itanda Falls). While on the river, you’ll get to see a lot of different birds, and you can swim in the calm stretches of water between the rapids.

The tour includes rafting equipment, return transportation from Kampala or Jinja, buffet lunch, beers and sodas.

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip Itinerary

0630 Hours: Whether staying in Jinja or Kampala, we will pick you up from your hotel/ residence to our rafting meet point. Please ensure that we are aware of your pick-up point by the night before. Bookings essential through [email protected]!

On arrival at our meeting point, you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow rafters and guides while enjoying a tea or coffee. After a quick briefing, you will fit out with life jackets and helmets.

Head off 15 kilometers down river to the start point of the days rafting. En-route you will have time to enjoy a breakfast of “Rolex”, fruit salad and juice. “Rolex” (rolled eggs) is Uganda’s famous equivalent of a breakfast burrito, a tasty Spanish omelete wrapped in a chapatti.

Rafting is a physical activity so make sure you eat up big. Snacks of fruit, nuts and biscuits are provided on the river to help keep your energy levels up throughout the day, but we don’t like to weigh you down with a big lunch just before the next major rapid.

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip rafting start point is on a flat pool just above our first major rapid, Overtime.

While our crew unload the rafts and slide them down the ramp into the river you will have time to admire the spectacular view as well as use the toilets and changing room provided on site.

Once down at the river’s edge, you will receive a detailed safety briefing, before launching into the river for a last bit of practical instruction as we float down the pool.

Overtime kicks off with a bang, as we maneuver through the rocks and negotiate the 12 feet drop.

As the river meanders through beautiful scenery, we guide the rafts into the mighty challenges of some of the biggest and safest grade 5 white water rafting in the world.

Eight major rapids are rafted plus several lower graded runs; all selected to maximize your safety and fun.

We stop before all grade 4 and 5 rapids to explain to you the planned route through, so if at any time you feel you would prefer to join the safety boat or where possible, walk around and then rejoin the raft, this is absolutely fine.

Calm stretches of water separate the rapids – perfect for getting your breath back, taking a swim and enjoying the scenery.

At the end of the rafting day we pull over at our new Riverside Restaurant, just downstream of the Hairy Lemon Island, for a delicious Barbeque buffet lunch and cold beers and sodas.

Once you have eaten your fill and sated your thirst with a couple of cold ones, you will be transported to your next destination, shuttle bus to Kampala, or back to Jinja.

Jinja Sightseeing 1 Day Trip Safari is a full day excursion from Kampala to Jinja town and its environs. Jinja is located 80 km's from Kampala City and the journey by road takes about 1½ hours.

Explore Mabira Forest to see primates, birds and butterflies, enjoy lunch, visit to the source of the Nile for a boat ride, where you will see many local villagers living their normal lives like washing, charcoal making, traditional fishing etc and Bujagali Falls!

0700 Hours: After breakfast our Jinja Sightseeing 1 Day Trip Safari depart Kampala after breakfast and drive along Kampala – Jinja road, one of the busiest roads in Uganda, you will pass through Lugazi – a popular sugar cane town.

Our first stop will be at Ssezibwa falls located in Mukono district, about 37 km's from Kampala.

The falls are about seven meters high and are an excellent and convenient place where one can enjoy bird and butterfly watching, boat rides and canoeing etc.

A few km's from the falls we get to Mabira Forest. Mabira Forest Reserve is one of Uganda’s largest surviving Natural Forests covering an area of 306 square kilometers.

We enjoy a guided nature walk of Mabira forest to see mammals, birds, plants, butterflies etc. Animals seen here include bush pigs, blue duikers, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabees and leopards (very rare).

After Mabira Forest nature walk, we proceed to Jinja town. Jinja is located 26 kilometers from Mabira Forest.

1230 Hours: We arrive in time for lunch at the Sunset Hotel International Jinja. The hotel has a lovely restaurant perched on a hill looking over the Nile River.

Lunch is a variety of Continental European, Indian, Chinese and local cuisine.

1400 Hours: After lunch, we take a short drive to visit the source of the Nile for relaxation, excitement and discovery.

The Source of the Nile Gardens and Speke Memorial Site is a place in Jinja district with 17 acres marking the origin of the longest river in the world.

With green calm and spacious gardens, the Source of the Nile is one of Uganda’s main tourist attractions with a number of indigenous birds and monkeys that are visible there all the time.

The place has stunning view over Lake Victoria, the world’s biggest fresh water lake.

From this spot, River Nile flows through Lake Albert to the northern part of Uganda, to Sudan and finally to Egypt where it pours into the Mediterranean Sea covering a distance of 6695 km (4184 miles).

Take a boat ride to the source of the Nile with shaded fishing boats with outboard engines. On the boat ride, you will see numerous water birds like Cormorants, Pelicans, Storks, and Kingfishers among others.

Animals include the Nile monitors, vervet monkeys etc. After the boat ride we proceed to Jinja Town. The town itself is a buzzing little place with some wonderful, crumbling colonial architecture.

We take a tour to the Jinja market. Today Jinja is residential town filled with many old Indian styled structures in which many Indians lived during the pre-Amin area, some of whom have returned to reclaim their old properties.

However Jinja is a multicultural town, dominated by native Basoga mixed up with Baganda, Banyankore Bagwere, Basamya as well as other eastern tribes making it a fusion of a true Uganda town good for any visitor to interact with.
