Lake Turkana is also known as the “Jade Sea” because of its remarkable blue – green colour. This is a result of algae particles, which shift with changes of the wind and light, so that the water surface shifts from blue to grey to fabulous jade.

The Lake was originally named Lake Rudolph in 1888 and was renamed Lake Turkana in 1975. It is the largest alkaline lake in the world.

Lake Turkana is 300 km long and 50 km wide and is the world’s largest permanent desert lake. The water is potable, but not very palatable. Three rivers feed into the lake but there is no out flow, all water loss is via evaporation.

Lake Turkana National Parks comprise of Sibiloi National Park, the South Island and Central Island National Parks. The island parks are breeding habitats for Nile crocodiles, hippopotamus and several snake species.

There are a number of fish in the lake to include the African Tetras, African Knifefish, African Arowana, African Elephant fish and the Nile perch to name a few.

Many bird species migrate to the lake. Some common ones are the African Skimmer, Common & Wood Sandpiper, Greater Flamingo and the Little Stint.

Reptiles and Mammals are both present as well. The Nile crocodiles are found there with large turtles. Several species of Zebras & Gazelles are found and an occasional sighting of a giraffe.

Crocodile Island on Lake Turkana is a favorite place of anthropologists. It is has produced some of the world’s most fascinating human evolutionary fossil finds.

Many Hominid fossils have been found around the lake dating back about two million years ago. Hominids are part of the Homininae family which consist of humans, gorillas and chimpanzees.

These fossils are considered by some, to be the first findings of extinct human relatives. Because of these findings, the lower Omo Valley and Lake Turkana is called the cradle of mankind.

Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Turkana
Met at either Eliye Airstrip (charter flights) or Lodwar (schedule flights) and transfer to Lobolo Camp on the western shore of Lake Turkana.  Lunch en route or at the camp, dinner and overnight at Lobolo Camp.

Day 2: Visit a Turkana Village & Afternoon Boat ride
Mini-breakfast and drive to Turkana Village or homestead for a cultural visit and return to the camp for full breakfast. In the afternoon leave by boat to Central Island National Park (UNESCO – world heritage site), dinner and overnight fly-camp on Central Island. 

Day 3 : Visit Crocodile Lake, Sundowners and Turkana Cultural Dance
0600 Hours: Wake up, have tea, coffee and biscuits and leave the camp by boat (short ride) to the trail to Flamingo Lake, the breeding place for flamingo.

Return to the boat for another short ride to the trail to Crocodile Lake, the breeding place for crocs. Return to the Fly Camp for full breakfast, siesta and lunch, boat back to Lobolo Camp for a sundowner, Turkana cultural dance, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Breakfast – Depart
Breakfast at leisure. This morning explore the area. Transfer to your departure point.

Lobolo Camp Lake Turkana Luxury Accommodation Kenya is located on the Western Shore of the lake Turkana and has has 8 luxury en-suite tents (sleepsing 16 guests) in 2 doubles tents and 6 twins tents.

Turkana is the most north-western county within Kenyan territory, and is located within the boundaries of the former Rift Valley province. The capital of Turkana is Lodwar. Lake Turkana is home to a great number of Fish, Birds, Reptiles, Insects, Plankton and verious species of African Mammals. 

The Turkana are the people found in this region and are mainly semi-nomadic pastoralists. They are known for raising camels and weaving baskets.  Getting to Lobolo Camp Lake Turkana; there are schedule flights to/ from Lodwar town (road transfer 2 hours each way).

Lobolo refers to “a place of abundant water” In Turkana langage. Lobolo Camp is beautifully nestled among 100 acres of lush forest. The camp hosts a series of fresh water springs and has an expansive view of the Lake Turkana.

All the 8 luxury tents have their own ensuite bathroom, with a running sink, a warm shower and a flushing toilet. The beds are kingsize and are elevated above the ground, allowing you to enjoy the views from them.

The beds do not have mosquito nets, for the tents were designed in order to prevent insects from entering them but allowing the wind to enter and freshen up the spaces.

Electricity is available in the tents, as well as in the dining area, so that you can charge your devices throughout the day.

Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Lewa Downs
After breakfast you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for scheduled flight to Lewa Downs.  On arrival, you will be met at the airstrip and transferred to the camp as you enjoy viewing the rhinos.

Day 2: Discover Lewa Downs
You will set out just before sunrise in search of game as you enjoy the richness of the Park's wildlife and endless savannah. 

The game driving is outstanding with plenty of black rhinoceros‚ buffalo‚ the rare Grevy's  Zebra and resident predators‚ to a backdrop of beautiful views of snow capped Mt. Kenya.

Now incorporated in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, which includes Anna Merz's highly respected Ngare Sergoi Rhino Sanctuary and the Ngare Ndare forest, the area is committed to the conservation of the extremely diverse indigenous wildlife and habitat, as well as benefiting the local community by providing employment, schools and clinics.

Day 2: Explore Amboseli National Park
We awaken to the sights and sounds of big game country and, if we're lucky, to a view of Kilimanjaro often unclouded in the early morning sky.

Amboseli is sought after by travelers in the know for its breathtaking scenery and easily approachable wildlife. There is also a host of Kenya birds, both large and small, to see if you keep your eyes open and stop at every sighting.

Lake Bogoria Lake Baringo 3 Days 2 Nights Road Safari pays a visit to two lakes that are found in Baringo County in the Rift valley of Kenya.

Lake Bogoria and Lake Baringo are approximately 240 km from Nairobi (4 hours 30 minutes drive from Nairobi). The lakes are one of the less visited destinations yet offer scenic beauty and beautiful topography.

Lake Bogoria is located in Lake Bogoria National Park. It is an alkaline lake since as it doesn’t have an outlet. It is geothermal active on the western side with over 120 hot geysers with temperatures of 94 degree Celsius enough to boil an egg.

Lake Bogoria is referred to as a ‘healing place’ with about 135 species of birds and the greatest population of the lesser flamingos.

Lake Baringo is a fresh water lake with water in let but has no particular as it’s believed water seeps through the underground rocks within it.

The lake is well known for the great population of crocodiles and hippos swimming in the lake. The lake has small islands called Ol Kokwe which gives you a great view of the lake as well as the best spot for bird watching.

Activities that take place at the lake Baringo National Reserve are fishing, bird watching, skiing surfing and wildlife watching.

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Lake Bogoria National Park
0700 Hours: After breakfast depart from your hotel in Nairobi for Lake Bogoria. On the way enjoy the beautiful serenity of the Great Rift Valley. 

Upon arrival in Lake Bogoria proceed for lunch at your hotel then later in the afternoon enjoy a game drive in the park. Lake Bogoria is the seasonal home to one of the world's largest populations of lesser flamingos, turning the lake pink.

The lake is also famous for its natural geysers and hot springs, which are situated along the bank of the lake and within the lake. Some of the geysers erupt to a height of 5 meters, and the water bursting through the lake can be searing hot.

Animals at the park are impalas, gazelles, buffalo, hyena, klipspringer, dik-dik, zebra, warthog and Grant’s gazelle. Greater kudu can be spotted all around the lake,

0800 Hours: After breakfast depart for a day trip to Lake Baringo. Explore the great number of crocodiles and hippos along the lake. Lake Baringo is a renowned birding location in Kenya, boasting over 500 species of bird.

Highlights of this trip includes crossing the equator, some fabulous birding and visits to authentic Pokot villages. The area is a habitat for many species of animals, including, hippo, crocodile, and many other mammals, amphibians, reptiles and the invertebrates.

There are a number of small islands to visit in Lake Baringo, which can be reached by motor boat from the mainland. One definitely worth a visit is Ol Kokwe Island, which has natural hot springs.

Day 4: Mara North Conservancy – Masai Mara National Reserve
After early morning game drive and breakfast at the camp you check out from Karen Blixen Camp and drive to Musiara Gate.

Here you will change vehicles and have an en-route game to the camp in the Masai Mara Reserve where you will have lunch.

After lunch you will go for a long game drive in search for the big 5 in the world famous Masai Mara game reserve on the border with Tanzania.

Home to the great migration in the months July – October when two million Wildebeest make their way northwards from the Serengeti in Tanzania. You are able to spot lions, buffaloes, antelopes and hippos and crocodiles in the Mara River.

Day 5: Explore Masai Mara National Reserve
The fertile Mara plains support a huge amount of plain games and their predators abound – a wildlife spectacle unrivalled anywhere else in the world.

It's a home to the big five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe, and vast herds of games.

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today and tomorrow during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

During our stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals.

A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

Day 6: Masai Mara National Reserve – Fly to Nairobi
Wake up for an early morning game drive to see lions, hyenas or other predators eating after a successful hunt.  When even your stomach is growling, you come back to the camp for breakfast.

After breakfast you can do another game drive until lunch time. Then it is unfortunately time to leave this beautiful game reserve and fly back to Nairobi.

In the afternoon the driver/guide of the camp will take you to the airstrip from where your flight will depart back to Nairobi. On arrival you will be transferred to you hotel/ residence.
