Stables Ol Pejeta Conservancy is located within the 110,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy, on the Laikipia Plains. The stables are 17 kilometers from Nanyuki Town and 217 kilometers from Nairobi.

The stables were originally built to house the horses of the previous owner of Ol Pejeta – Adnan Khashoggi. The stables were later converted to a research center and then recently changed to budget accommodation.

There are 14 guestrooms and several round thatched houses. The guestrooms are spacious and have mosquito net, clothes hangar, power socket, chair and laundry basket.

Bathrooms with hot showers are shared in the Stables Ol Pejeta Conservancy. There is a restaurant that serves meals strictly at specified times. The accommodation runs on generator power only, hence guests are requested to bring their torches.

In the evening guests can enjoy their meals around the campfire as they are unwinding and catching up with fellow travelers. Guests can enjoy horse riding, game drives and even be part of the volunteer program.

Old House Nanyuki

Old House Nanyuki is situated on a 20 acre in Nanyuki, 0.9 kilometers from the Equator. The Nanyuki River is in close proximity to the house. Nairobi is about 194 kilometers from the house and it takes about 3.5 hours drive.

The house has 38 en-suite guestrooms, each tastefully fitted with telephone, satellite TV, balcony and bathroom with showers. There is a campsite where guests can pitch their tents and sleep in the outdoors.

The campsite has a shared kitchen and shared lavatories. There is an onsite restaurant that serves local and continental dishes. Guests can enjoy their meals in the dining area or in the outdoors in the gazebos.

Timau River Lodge is located higher up in the foothills toward Mt. Kenya about 20 km north of Nanyuki Town and a km from Timau Town.

The lodge is only a km from the Nanyuki-Samburu road and is surrounded by 800 acres of cider forest. The lodge is also right in the middle of Northern and Laikipia plains, 20 km from the Lewa Downs Conservancy.

Mt Kenya Sirimon route gate is 9 km away while Sweetwaters (Ol Pajeta) is 44 km; Meru National Park is 130 km, while Solio ranch famous for Rhino's is 70 km away.

The lodge offers authentic log cabins with a fireplace. There are 13 cottages that can accommodate 20 guests, 7 budget bandas each with two beds and the main house that accommodate 20 guests.

There is a campsite with tents and bedding that can accommodate a total of 80 guests. The thatched cottages vary in sizes and the campsite is well equipped with a large covered cooking area.

Accommodation is on self catering basis and guests can use the shared kitchen.

For the guests who don’t prefer self catering, they can make use of the onsite restaurant that is perched up in a forest canopy and specializes in Indian cuisine including Indian curries and vegetarian meals.

The meals have been freshly prepared using local produce hence maintaining that authentic taste. There is a well stocked bar with fireplace and pool table, an ideal place to relax and unwind.

The bar serves a variety of beers, spirits and wines. Timau River Lodge is at 2240 meters in altitude, so the evenings can be particularly cool, so you definitely need to have warm clothing.

River Timau Lodge is in an idyllic setting with a whole range of animals roaming free throughout – Peacocks, Ducks, Geese, Tortoises, and Guinea Fowls etc.

The Campsite is located amongst trees at the top of a very pretty waterfall, where geese and ducks wander around. The lodge is also close to Mount Kenya so guests are able to enjoy good views.

Activities in the lodge include camel treks, cultural visits, nature walks, bird watching, trout fishing, bird watching and cycling.

Guests can also enjoy visits to Ol Pejeta conservancy, Mau Mau Caves, tree planting projects, walks to Timau Forest and trekking to mount. Kenya.

Sirimon Cottage Mount Kenya is set in alpine pastures on the edge of a forested ravine, at the foot of Mount Kenya with an impressive landscape. The cottage is 34 kilometers from Nanyuki and about 240 kilometers North East of Nairobi. The closest airstrip is Nanyuki airstrip.

The stone cottage houses 2 semidetached bandas. Each banda has a sitting room with a log ﬁre leading into an open plan dining room, verandah, a well equipped kitchen and 2 bedrooms with either a double bed or twin beds.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. Here guests can cook for themselves or have the caretaker prepare meals for them. Guests can enjoy their meals in the dining area, around the log fire or in the fresh air of the veranda.

Sere Enkang House Nanyuki is located on the banks of river Burguret, 7 kilometers from Naro Moru and 9 kilometers from the Nanyuki town. The Nanyuki airstrip is 10 minutes drive to resort and it takes about 3-4 hours drive from Nairobi.

There are 11 cozy and luxurious cottages, each with hardwood flooring, a private lounge area warmed by a fire, continental style washroom as well as outdoor living with a deck in front for relaxation during the day.

The bathrooms have running hot water/cold showers. Some cottages have kitchenettes, hence are on self catering basis. There is an onsite restaurant serving a variety of cuisine ranging from Italian, Indian, African, Continental, vegetarian among others.

Rutundu Log Cabins Mount Kenya

Rutundu Log Cabins Mount Kenya is located on the rim of Lake Rutundu, overlooking the north eastern face of Mt Kenya.

There is an airstrip about 1.5 km from the cabins and a heli pad about 0.1 km from the cabins. Nanyuki is about 4.5 hours drive away from the camp.

There are 2 log cabins overlooking Lake Rutundu, each with open log fires and en-suite bathrooms. The main cabin features a sitting room, dining room, a verandah, well equipped kitchen and a bedroom with a double bed and a bunk bed.

The other cabin is detached from the main building and has a bedroom with a double bed and two single beds.

The cabins accommodate 4 guests comfortably and have another 4 beds available if guests are willing to share rooms.

The cabins have been built along the principles of the Alaskan log cabin using large cedar logs found in the forests around the mountain.

Moss fills the cracks between the logs to keep the cabins warm and cozy. Rutundu log cabins Mount Kenya is on self catering basis, hence guests are required to bring all their food, drinks and firewood.

There is a gas oven and hob and an ‘outdoor’ fridge, but no deep freeze. There is no electricity, all lighting is from solar lamps.

Activities in the cabins include fishing, hiking, nature walks, bird watching and horse riding. The guests can also enjoy scenic flights and riding.

Getting to Rutundu Log Cabins Mount Kenya

Getting to Rutundu log Cabins by Road
Rutundu Log Cabins can be reached by turning off the main Nanyuki – Isiolo road up to the log cabins, a four-wheel drive vehicle is needed, and the drive should take about 1.5 hours.

The road deteriorates somewhat from the hollow trees onwards; the trees are a good half way mark in terms of time. The road ends at the Kizita gorge, where you leave your vehicle.

From here to the cabins is a 15-minute, challenging walk through the gorge. The staff will meet you where the road ends and will carry your luggage to the cabins.

Getting to Rutundu Log Cabins by Air
Rutundu Log Cabins by air can be reached through an airstrip about 1.5kms from the cabins and a heli pad about 100 meters from the cabins.

Getting to Rutundu Log Cabins by Horse
There is now an option of riding to Rutundu Log Cabins. Neighboring Kisima Farm provides trained polo horses to ride through the moorland and up to Rutundu.

Overnight stays are a must in this case. Please be warned that the horses are well trained polo horses and you need to be an experienced rider.

Rift Valley Adventures Camp Ol Pejeta is situated within the 110,000 acres of Ol Pejeta Conservancy, 14 Kilometers from Nanyuki town. The camp is set in a securely fenced in area with its own access gate in the shadow of Mt Kenya.

The camp has 15 large tents, each can accommodate are easily adjustable to fit 2 to 12 guests depending on group circumstances. All the 15 tents can house 180 guests at any given time.

In the Rift Valley Adventures Camp Ol Pejeta there is a large lounge area with flat screen TV for educational videos/ presentations, a large dining area as well as outdoor dining area, large fireplace barbeque facility, pizza oven and a well stocked bar.
