You safari begins with a visit to Mikumi National Park located in Southern Tanzania in Morogoro region about 320 kilometers from Dar-es -Salaam.

The drive from Dar-es-salaam takes about 5 hours and the park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope.

The next destination on our 4 Days/ 3 Nights Tanzania Southern Safari is Udzungwa Mountains National Park located southwest of Mikumi National Park about 65 Kilometers (40 miles).

The Park is the first terrestrial National Park in Tanzania. It is well known for its biologically diverse forest, with several animals and plant species that grow here absent in the world.

The park is beautiful and great for hiking place. It is considered as one of the top ten forests for bird conservation in Africa. Wildlife found here include Cape Buffalo and Elephants. There are also reptiles and snakes.

Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
Our destination today after breakfast in our hotel at Dar es Salaam is Mikumi National Park. Mikumi National Park is located south of Dar es Salaam right on the main Morogoro-Iringa Highway with an approximate travel time of 4½ hours.

The word Mikumi comes after a local word for Borassus palm trees referred to as Mikuky. The wildlife viewing experience at Mikumi National Park can be experienced right upon entering the park where guests can encounter baboons, zebras and impalas speedily crossing the road.

Other animals include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, and elephants. Wild dog can be seen in packs here.

Day 2: Explore Mikumi National Park
Today we enjoy a game drive to the secluded heart of Mikumi National Park.

With 3,230 square kilometers coverage Mikumi National Park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal.

More than 400 species of birds have been recorded here including Eurasian migrants such as red billed ox pecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller, which stays between October and April.

There are more interesting bird species in the Miombo woodland, for example, Shelley's double collared sunbird, pale billed hornbill and violet-crested Turaco as well as violet-backed starling.

The surrounding mountain and hills brings compelling natural beauty with addition to superb light, make it a wonderful venue for wildlife photographers. It is common to see elephants, lions and sometimes giraffes on/ along the Tanzania-Zambia highway, especially in the evening or night. Nowadays leopards are commonly seen.

Day 3: Mikumi National Park – Udzungwa Mountains National Park
We awaken to the sounds of Africa and begin our day with an early morning game drive in Mikumi then return to the camp for an English breakfast. Mikumi's vegetation includes woodland, swamp and grassland with two water holes, Mkata and Chamgore.

Apart from the saddle-bill stork, hammerkop and malachite kingfisher, you will also find monitor lizard and a deadly python inhabiting the pools. After Breakfast we depart by road to Udzungwa Mountains National Park.

Udzungwa main physical features include rolling hills, dissected plateau, waterfalls and an undulating upland blanketed by a thick rain forest which colors the area with an ethereal beauty.

Variety of animal species can be found here, including water buffalo, elephants, leopards and full of reptiles such as chameleon and snakes.

Other animals include rare primates red colobus, Sanje crested mangabey monkeys, black and yellow baboon, which live in slopes of mountain all sharing the same habitation. Udzungwa National Park is now one of the top ten forests for bird conservation in Africa.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we depart to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the eighth wonder of the natural world. Ngorongoro has vast, verdant caldera from the panoramic viewpoint.

Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park is home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five.

Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard.

There is also the Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the South-western corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater – Tarangire National Park
Today we drive to Tarangire National Park. With a permanent water source, the park is virtually guaranteed enormous herds and excellent game viewing including cheetah, lion (some tree-climbing!), leopard and hyena and a herd of 3,500 elephants.

The park is also host to a number of rare species including eland, oryx, kudu and gerenuk. Our accommodations are at Tarangire Sopa Lodge, a tranquil oasis overlooking the rolling plains.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we’re off on the next leg of our journey to Ngorongoro, the eighth wonder of the natural world.

Along the way we drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area—a region created to accommodate the grazing needs of the Masai people and a unique test of the idea that humans leading a pastoral lifestyle can coexist with wildlife.

We arrive at Ngorongoro in time for lunch at our stunning lodge, situated on the rim of the crater. Later after lunch we descend 2,000 feet into the giant caldera of this extinct volcano.

This magnificent natural amphitheater contains the largest concentration of animals in all of Africa. Prides of lion, black rhino and elephant share this land with the legendary Masai tribesmen.

Because the grasses are short, game is easily spotted and can be approached quite closely. We spend a splendid morning on the floor of the crater observing wildlife in this ageless World Heritage Site.

The Serengeti National Park is our destination today. En route we stop at Olduvai Gorge, the “cradle of mankind,” where the Leakey family uncovered the fossil of Homo habilis, who lived 1.75 million years ago.

Arriving at our lodge in time for lunch, we find ourselves deep in the heart of this famous migration corridor.

With its wide-open spaces, bright blue skies and creature-filled landscape in the afternoon, we will discover why the fabled Serengeti typifies the dream of “Old Africa.”

Large prides of lions laze in the long grasses, plentiful families of elephants feed on acacia bark and trumpet to each other across the plains, while giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, eland and the whole range of African wildlife present themselves in awe-inspiring numbers.

Day 2: Explore Tsavo West National Park
Spend the day exploring the vast Tsavo West. The park is famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal’s species and over 500 bird species.

Visit the Lava Flows and Caves for geological interest; explore the caves or hike along the lava flow. The cliff faces in Tsavo West offer some of the best rock climbing in Kenya.

The views over the savanna plains are spectacular, and Mt Kilimanjaro can also be seen on occasion. Visit the 300 meters high, east side of Kichwa Tembo, the Great Tsavo Chimney and the Ivory Tower on Elephant Rock. Climbing can be arranged through the Mountain Club of Kenya.

Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Tsavo West National Park
Early in the morning you will be picked up and transferred to the Wilson Airport for your scheduled morning flight to Tsavo West National Park.

Day 2: Explore Tsavo West National Park
Today spend the day exploring Tsavo West. Tsavo West is vast and vegetation is thick which makes it more challenging to see the wildlife.

Explore the diverse habitat from open savannah grasslands, to ash cones, riverine vegetation and rock outcrops in search of wild animals, reptiles, and birds. Expect to see a lion pride, hippo pods, wildebeests and other exciting game during your morning and afternoon rendezvous.

You will also get to visit Mzima Springs whose water in filtered underground from the Chyulu Hills erupts from below a lava ridge into a series of pools so clear that hippos and fish can be seen with ease.

There's is also the Shetani Lava which the locals believed that it was the devil himself emerging from the earth.  This vast flow of lava that spurted is now an 8km mass of solidified lava, chunks of magma and curving caves.

Spend the entire day exploring the Ol Pejeta Conservancy till sunset. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 24,000 acre private Sweetwaters Game Reserve and home to a variety of wild game, bird-life, and exotic flora.
