Maasai Simba Camp Amboseli is located in Merrueshi Ranch in the village of Merrueshi, 12 kilometers from Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The camp is historical site formerly used by legendary Maasai warriors for training. The location of the camp is a major wildlife corridor between Amboseli and the picturesque mountain range of Chyulu Hills National Park.

Kimana Amboseli Tented Camp is situated North West of Mt. Kilimanjaro, on the border with Tanzania and only 2 kilometers from the Kimana main gate. The camp is about 228 kilometers away from Nairobi via Emali.

The camp has 6 cottages and 20 tented rooms. The cottages have double beds and en-suite bathrooms. The tents have mosquito nets and verandahs with safari chairs. The bathrooms are not en-suite.

There is also a large camping ground where guests can pitch their own tents. There are shared bathrooms with flush toilets and the showers have heated water.

The success rate of finding gorillas on a daily basis is around 90%. But Bwindi isn't just about gorillas: there are 11 other species of primate and numerous mammals ranging from shy forest elephants to giant forest hogs.

Day 1: Kampala – Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
0700 Hours: After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kampala you will depart and proceed to south-western Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park taking us approximately 9 hours.

A brief stop at the Equator (at place called Kayabwe) provides an opportunity of photographing. Continue to the rolling hills and terraced landscapes of Kabale District.

Have lunch in Mbarara town and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park arriving in the evening. Dinner follows and we relax as we prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Gorilla Tracking) & Cultural Entertainment:
0630 Hours: Have an early morning breakfast and then head to the gorilla sanctuary. This rainforest is spectacular as it offers a dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access for guests.

This Park is best known for the fascinating gorillas, where the time taken to find them and terrain varies according to the movements of these marvelous primates.

The entire experience may take anything from 2 to 8 hours. The thrill of spending time and observing these gentle giant gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and also an exciting adventure that will leave you with long lasting memories of a truly unique experience.

The gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they play and interact with each other.

In the evening, have a cultural walk and interact with the local people. Participate in captivating traditional performances presented by Women’s groups or orphan children groups.

Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park.

Optional Extra: If your gorilla trekking experience is short enough, it may be possible to add on a waterfall hike – this may take anything from 2 to 5 hours depending on how much you stop along the way.

Take a plunge into the bottom of the icy waterfall if you are brave enough! (additional cost).

Day 3: Bwindi – Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
After having that encounter with the mountain gorillas, say farewell to the impenetrable forest and head to Lake Bunyonyi.

Lake Bunyonyi also known as the place of many little birds and is one of the few lakes in the region that is rumored to be free of bilharzia and safe for swimming.

It is a popular location for water sports and a favorite destination for birders. When you reach do a canoe ride, check out several islands like Bwama Island good for birders or you could take a nature walk to appreciate a variety of small birds.

Other activities at Lake Bunyonyi include canoeing, boat cruising, riding, and local tour, swimming, hiking the highlands around the lake, pygmy village tour and birding.

Kibo Slopes Garden Resort

Kibo Slopes Garden Resort is an eco friendly lodge located in Loitokitok region, near the Kenyan/ Tanzanian border on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The resort is ideally situated in the direct vicinity of the Amboseli, Chyulu Hills and the Tsavo National Parks.

The resort has 17 guestrooms comprising of 5 deluxe rooms and 12 standard room. Each guestroom has bedside lockers, wardrobe, mosquito net and work desk. The bathrooms are en-suite.
