Kibo Safari Camp Amboseli

Kibo Safari Camp Amboseli is set at the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Amboseli National Park, approximately 260 km from Nairobi.

The camp is only 5 minutes drive from the park entry gate and 15 km from Amboseli Airstrip. There are 73 self-contained tents sheltered by ‘makuti’ roofs and they comprise of single, double, triple and family accommodation.

The beds are custom designed and locally made with bush logs. Each tent features a sofa, seating area, clothes rack, mosquito net, work desk and furnished balcony with amazing veiws.

The bathrooms are en-suite and have flush toilets, showers, and wash basins.

The onsite restaurant uses fresh fruits and vegetables from the camp's organic farm. Local and continental meals are served on the open terraced restaurant set under acacia trees overlooking the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The well stocked bar offers a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Guests can enjoy their drinks, relax and unwind in the lounge area. There is a massage parlor and an art gallery.

Kibo Safari Camp Amboseli has an outdoor pool which is flanked by sun beds where guests can relax. This is also an ideal location to watch the sun set as you relax and enjoying a sun downer.

There are also conference facilities with state of the art equipment. This provides ideal venue for conferences, meeting and other corporate events. There is a well manicured grounds that is perfect for team buildings.

Kibo Safari Camp Amboseli Game Drives

Kibo Safari Camp is set only a few minutes' drive from the park entry gate (Kimana Gate) making sure you get into the park on time to explore before the sun is too hot or in the evening before the sun goes down.

The Amboseli's fragile ecosystem displays an impressive wildlife variety, with more than 50 mammal species.

No doubt the kings of Amboseli National Park are the elephants, which are present in large numbers, and are fond of the swamps, where they share the cool waters with the hippos that hide beneath the papyrus.

The park is also home to a large resident population of wildebeest and Burchell's zebra.

Other grass-eaters include Thomson's and Grant’s gazelles, buffalo, warthog, Masai giraffe, impala, waterbuck and dik-dik. Baboons and vervet monkeys inhabit the scarce woodlands.

Carnivores are represented by lions, spotted hyenas, wild cats, jackals, caracals and cheetahs.

There are more than 400 species have been registered, including pelican, flamingo, kingfisher, African fish eagle, ibis, secretary bird, crowned crane, grey and Goliath herons, cattle egret, black-winged stilt, little grebe, etc.

Others include Egyptian goose, martial eagle, pigmy falcon, Masai ostrich, marabou stork, white-backed vulture, lappet-faced vulture, yellow-necked spur fowl, Kori bustard and hornbills.

After the rains, the park gathers large populations of water birds.

Hunters Lodge Kiboko

Hunters Lodge Kiboko set on 25 acres of lush gardens at Kiboko Springs in Twanduu area, Kiboko Town. The lodge is 160 Kilometers from Nairobi and is perfect base for travelers visiting Tsavo, Amboseli and the Chyulu Hills.

4 Day Lake Mburo Safari Bwindi Forest Gorilla Trekking Tour is a wildlife adventure that focuses on close animal encounters and dramatic wildlife sightings in two great Ugandan parks.

Lake Mburo National Park offers exciting wildlife game viewing both in vehicles and on boat rides while a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for close encounters with the mountain gorillas in its forests.

Our 4 day safari begins with a visit to Lake Mburo National Park known for sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and its idyllic lake shores with a variety of different species of mammals and birds.

Lake Mburo is home to350 bird species as well as zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck.

After Lake Mburo, we proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park known as the home of endangered Mountain Gorillas, the most awe-inspiring primates to be found in Africa.

A full day is set aside for you to trek for the mountain gorillas in the forest. The search for these majestic animals goes through thick untamed rainforest, where you'll be scrambling over mossy rocks and through deep undergrowth.

However, when you come face to face with the gorillas, the trek will be more than worth it, and watching gorillas in their natural habitat is a memorable experience.

Other primates that can be found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in addition to the mountain Gorillas include red tailed and blue monkey, L’Hoest’s, chimpanzee, black and white colobus, and baboons.

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Lake Mburo National Park
0800 Hours: After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, depart by road in a customized 4×4 safari vehicle and head south-west towards Lake Mburo National Park.

1030 Hours: Brief stop at the Equator – a great opportunity to have your photo taken in both hemispheres! Tea/ coffee break + bathroom facilities.

1300 Hours: Arrive at your lodge/ camp in time for lunch and later have some relaxation time.

1530 Hours: After lunch take a boat trip on Lake Mburo looking for crocodiles, hippo etc and water birds such as pelicans, herons, fish eagles and the rare Shoebill stork.

During your safari game drive in Lake Mburo expect to see zebra, eland, buffaloes, impalas, roam antelope, leopard, hyena, bush buck and klipspringer.

1830 Hours: Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Mburo Game Viewing – Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
0700 Hours: After an early breakfast at the lodge or camp we depart for a 3 hour safari game drive. Animals that may be seen include zebra, waterbuck, buffalo, topi, eland, leopard and a variety of bird species.

1100 Hours: We exit Lake Mburo National Park and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park with a lunch break en route (in Mbarara). Estimated driving time is 6 hours.

1800 Hours: Arrive at Bwindi late in the evening followed by check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable Forests (Gorilla Tracking)
0630 Hours: Have an early morning breakfast and then head to the gorilla sanctuary. This rainforest is spectacular as it offers a dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access for guests.

This Park is best known for the fascinating gorillas, where the time taken to find them and terrain varies according to the movements of these marvelous primates.

The entire experience may take anything from 2 to 8 hours. The thrill of spending time and observing these gentle giant gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and also an exciting adventure that will leave you with long lasting memories of a truly unique experience.

The gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they play and interact with each other.

In the evening, have a cultural walk and interact with the local people. Participate in captivating traditional performances presented by Women’s groups or orphan children groups.

Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park.

Optional Extra: If your gorilla trekking experience is short enough, it may be possible to add on a waterfall hike – this may take anything from 2 to 5 hours depending on how much you stop along the way.

Take a plunge into the bottom of the icy waterfall if you are brave enough! (Additional Cost).

Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forests – Drive to Kampala
0600 Hours: Rise early and take a packed breakfast box and drive back to Kampala. A lunch break will be taken along the way. You may also wish to make a stopover at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers.

Here you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. Another optional stop will be at the equator for photographs.

1800 Hours: Depending on traffic, you should be back in Kampala just before nightfall.

Campi Ya Kanzi Camp

Campi Ya Kanzi Camp is situated within Kuku Group Ranch at the foot of the legendary Chyulu Hills, Mtito Andei and about 322 km's from Nairobi. The camp is an hour by Air from Nairobi.

Mount Kilimanjaro is about 56.4 km's away from the camp. There are 6 luxury tented cottages, 2 tented suites, a house and a pool suite. The tented suites are Hemingway and Simba.

The cottages are named after the beautiful view of the specific hills that they face: Chyulu, Longitok, Olenyo Waite, Kilimanjaro, Oldonyo Oibor and Ololorami.

Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Amboseli Sopa Lodge is situated on 200 acres of wooded Masai land on the foot hills of Africa’s highest Mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. The lodge is 250 kilometers from Nairobi and it takes about 4 hours drive.

Flying from Nairobi to the lodge is about 40 minutes and an hour’s transfer time to the lodge from Amboseli Airstrip. Amboseli National park (Kimana gate) is 20 kilometers away from the lodge.

AA Lodge Amboseli National Park is located in Amboseli, 5 km from Amboseli National Park main gate (Kimana Gate). Nairobi is situated about 240 km from the lodge and 20 km from the Emali-Loitoktok tarmac road.

0800 Hours: After breakfast our professional safari driver guide will meet you at the hotel and after a short safari briefing session begin your Kigali city tour.

Visit the genocide memorial museum, the Nyabugogo market, a pottery project, the Moslem quarter in Nyamirambo and the Franco-Rwanda cultural centre.

Have lunch and later drive North of Kigali to Parc National des Volcans (Volcanoes National Park). Upon arrival you will check-in to your hotel and have dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Later drive back to Kigali
0700 Hours: After an early cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, we transfer to the park headquarters for briefing.

0800 Hours: You will gather at the park headquarters together with tracking gear, packed breakfast and lunch for briefing before heading in the forest to track the gorillas.

The time you will spend tracking the gorillas is unpredictable and it may take as few as only 2 hours on a good day yet it may even take you 8 hours before you meet these great apes.

This period taken depends on their movement on the previous day. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to spend an hour watching them play and eat foliage as you take photographs. It is truly a thrilling experience of a lifetime.

In case you finish the gorilla tracking early you can choose to relax and have a drink at one of the executive hotels near the park or you can take a cultural tour so as to have an opportunity to interact with the friendly local people.

Later we shall leisurely drive back to Kigali. Feel free to buy and take craft products from craft shops as they will mark your trip to Kigali – Rwanda.
