Safari Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Tsavo West National Park

In the morning depart by road, to the legendary land of the “Man-Eaters”, Tsavo National Park. The special attractions including Mzima Springs & underwater hippo watching, Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary among others.

The park is unique and its habitat includes open plains alternating with Savannah bush and semi-desert scrub, acacia woodlands; rocky ridges and outcrops.

There are also more extensive ranges and isolated hills; belts of riverine vegetation; palm thickets and mountain forest.

Day 2: Tsavo West National Park – Drive to Amboseli National Park

Enjoy an early morning game drive in Tsavo West National Park. Later return to the lodge for breakfast and then depart for Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli is home to the legendary Masai tribesmen and famous for the huge herds of Elephant. Later we have some time to relax, swim and enjoy the camps/lodge grounds.

Our delightful lodge is perfectly located in the very centre of the reserve. In the afternoon game drive is planned until sunset.

The park is great for photographers, an ideal shot may be taken of any animal with the snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro as a backdrop.

Day 3: Amboseli National Park – Drive to Aberdare National Park

Wake up early for breakfast, depart with a game drive en-route as we head to the Aberdare National Park.

We stop for lunch at an upscale restaurant in Nairobi and travel overland through plantations of coffee and tea to The Aberdare Country Club, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill.

After high tea, set off for the Ark tree lodge, located in the forest on mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet.

This outstanding lodge offers high altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere: giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo.

Wildlife can be observed from different levels – and from outside where you can see, hear and smell everything and inside where you can sit with a cup of tea and stay warm and cosy.

You can put in a request to be awakened during the night if your favourite animals show up. A herd of elephants might be just feet away and if you are lucky, a leopard or large male Lion might put in an appearance.

Day 4: Aberdare National Park – Drive to Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, we will travel by road to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannas watered by the lovely Ewaso Nyiro River.

It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator: such as the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, and the Somali Ostrich.

Day 5: Explore Samburu National Reserve

Dawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand.

Before the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the Elephants, Lions, Leopards, and Cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands.

And so the day is spent in alternating pursuits of exploration in the bush and relaxation in our cosy camp or lodge.

Day 6: Samburu National Reserve – Drive to Lake Nakuru  National Park

Early morning breakfast at your lodge then departs Samburu Game Reserve with a game en-route to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch and check-in at Lake Nakuru lodge or similar.

Late afternoon, proceed on a game drive in the park famous for great masses of Flamingos, both white Rhino and a black rhino etc.

Game and bird viewing drives at the Lake Nakuru national park with opportunities to view Rhino.

Lake Nakuru National Park offering a wide ecological diversity, from the lakeshore, woodlands, grassy plains to rocky escarpments and ridges.

Day 7: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve

Enjoy early morning breakfast at your lodge then depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. Check-in at Masai Mara Sopa lodge or similar and lunch follows.

Our afternoon game drive in this famous reserve reveals wonders. Animals present include Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino etc.

Day 8: Explore the Masai Mara National Reserve

Today we enjoy an early morning game drive then return to our lodge for a full sit-down English breakfast.

Alternatively, we can spend the day in the park in search of predators and their prey like the Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe etc. We have lunch at one of the nearby Lodge or camp.

We shall also have an opportunity to see Hippo and Crocodiles found in the Mara River.

Day 9: Masai Mara – Drive to Nairobi
