Selous Jimbiza Camp is an affordable camp located on the banks of the Rufiji River in the buffer zone of Julius Nyerere National Park formerly known as Selous Game Reserve. The camp is situated 4 kilometers from Mtemere gate and airstrip.
Jimbiza Camp located on the banks of the Rufiji River was built to blend in with the environment. The Camp is built within the riverine bush and every attempt has been made to keep the area as natural and pristine as possible.
The camp is categorized into 3 different groups(Riverside bandas &Tents, Treetop rooms, and Camping). All rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious. The Restaurant is near the edge overlooking the Rufiji River where you can enjoy all your meals. There is a well-stocked Bar for your Sundowner drinks while viewing the Sunset after a day of activities.
Riverside bandas – 5 Riverside Bandas, stylishly designed, small with a more secure feeling. The Bandas have netted ceilings to allow the cool evening breeze to flow through your room. Fantastic views of the river.
Riverside Tents – 6 large and spacious Riverside Tents give one the feeling of being close to nature. All our Tents have views directly onto the river.
Treetop rooms/Tents – 4 Treetop Tents which are smaller than the riverside tents but are more secluded. The tents are built on high wooden decks within the riverine bush. Definitely for those who are looking for privacy and adventure.
Camping – The campsite is spaciously designed, fully equipped, and safe with 24 hours security. Choose your favorite spot to put up your tent and enjoy the undisturbed views from the privacy of your canvas. The Campsite can accommodate up to 30 individual small Tents.
The Restaurant is near the edge overlooking the Rufiji River where you can enjoy all your meals. There is a well-stocked Bar for your Sundowner drinks while viewing the Sunset after a day of activities. At Jimbiza you will enjoy the riverside view, great food, and the swimming pool for cooling down after your game drive.
In and around the Camp you have a chance of seeing, Blue Monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Monitor Lizards, and perhaps even a glimpse of a Bushbuck, Suni Antelope, or Zanj Elephant Shrew.
You may also be lucky to see hippos lazily wallowing in the shallows, birds soaring over the water, and crocodiles sunning themselves on the sandbank. Activities available include; Boat Safari, Walking Safari, Game Drive, Cultural Tourism, Village tour, and Fishing.
