Queen Elizabeth National Park

This 4 day Uganda safari holiday combines the best of Uganda’s top two destinations – Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kibale Forest National Park. The trip begins and ends in Kampala, Uganda’s bustling capital and economic hub, the tour safari sets off to Queen Elizabeth National Park – the top wildlife destination in Uganda, known for its excellent game viewing.

After lunch, we take a laid-back exclusive 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward, spotting buffaloes, elephants, hippos, birds, and crocodiles from the boat. The cruise takes us past fishing villages and provides lovely views of the Mweya Peninsula and surrounds, as well as offering excellent animal and bird sightings.

Day two begins with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park where you are likely to see Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Bushbucks, and more. Later we proceed to Kibale National Park near the towering Ruwenzori Mountains, known as the Mountains of the Moon.

Day three starts early, with breakfast and then chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park, home to an impressive 500 chimpanzees. Before heading into the forest we are briefed on the trekking procedures. While trekking in the jungle the guide tells you more about the chimpanzees, other primates, and local flora and fauna, making for an interesting adventure.

The dense jungles of Kibale Park are the best place to view chimpanzees in Africa. The chimpanzees are commonly found feeding on fig tree fruits in the game park and have been habituated to humans since 1992. The park is also home to 13 primate species including rare I’Hoest monkeys, black-and-white colobus, Uganda red colobus monkeys, red-tailed and blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and bush babies.

In the afternoon we visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary that’s home to around 200 species of birds (highlights include papyrus gonolek, white-winged warbler, and great blue turaco). It’s also good for spotting butterflies and primates, with eight different species here, including grey-cheeked mangabey.

On day four in the morning enjoy a nature walk to the villages surrounding the Forest like Kikoni, Nyakalongo, and Nyaibanda. As you make your way through these villages, you get to interact with the cultures and locals of the people. Later drive back to Kampala.
