Nyeri is a town situated in the Central Highlands of Kenya. It is the county headquarters of Nyeri County. It is one of the oldest towns in Kenya having been established in the British colonial era. The town was the central administrative headquarters of the country’s former Central Province.
The city is situated about 150 km north of Kenya’s capital Nairobi, in the country’s densely populated and fertile Central Highlands, lying between the eastern base of the Aberdare (Nyandarua) Range and the western slopes of Mount Kenya.
The majority of Nyeri residents are members of Kenya’s largest ethnic group, the Kikuyu, with residents generally being known as “Nyeri Kikuyu”. The Kikuyu language is widely spoken, along with Kenya’s National language, Swahili as well as Kenya’s official language, English.
Nyeri hosts the tomb of Robert Baden Powell, the founder of the Scout movement. It is also the hometown of the late Nobel laureate Wangari Maathai.

Savage Wilderness Camp Sagana is sits on 8 acres of well-manicured green lawns in Sagana area, Murang’a county, about 100 km North of Nairobi. It takes about 2 hours’ drive from the camp to Nairobi. This is a perfect get-a-away for families. The Camp has 21 cottages that sleep up to 85 people, Bunk houses sleep up to 60 and camping tents for up to 100. You can do catered or self-catering. Savage Wilderness Camp Sagana has 2 outdoor swimming pools, one on each side of the river. The 2 pools both have patio areas where guests can lie around and catch up on sun tan. At the camp there are 2 shared large toilet and shower blocks. All showers have hot water but towels are not provided. Zawadi is the best roundhouse for couples or families with children. The roundhouse, just like its neighboring roundhouse Azizi, is made up of a large bedroom with a double bed and an open gallery where a further mattress can be added.
