Lake Manyara Safari  2 Days 1 Night

2 Days 1 Night Lake Manyara National Park Road Safari is a short overnight wildlife holiday to Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania.

The park is located 125 Kilometers (78 miles) West of Arusha town, which is a 2 hour drive.

Lake Manyara National Park covers an area of 330 square km’s (127 square miles), of which up to 200 square km’s (77 square miles) is lake when water levels are high.

The park is noted for its beauty and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees, which are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys.

Lake Manyara National Park is also home to a large numbers of buffaloes, antelopes, zebras, hippos and crocodiles, giraffe and a high density of elephants.

The park is particularly known for its tree-climbing lions, which may be seen sleeping off the heat of the day on a branch instead of a shady spot on the ground like most other lions.

Well known for its birds (over 400 different species), Lake Manyara is one of the few places where you’ll be able to see the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle.

Fish-eating birds inhabiting the lake include pelicans, storks, cormorants and Egyptian geese. Flamingoes co lour the lake pink as they arrive to feed at the lake during their migration.

One unforgettable sight is a giant flock of red billed queleas that gather in their thousands and waft over the water like a giant swarm of insects.
