3 Days 2 Nights Elephant Bedroom Camp Fly-in Safari from Nairobi

Our 3 Days 2 Nights Elephant Bedroom Camp Fly-in Safari departs from Nairobi, ends in Nairobi, and offers you world-class game viewing in one of the lesser-known Samburu National Reserve, which lies in the Samburu County of Kenya, on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Northern Kenya.

It spans about 165 km², about 350 km north of the vibrant city of Nairobi. One of Kenya’s three northern parks (including Shaba and Buffalo Springs), Samburu is part of the spectacular Great Rift Valley and reaches altitudes of 800 to 1230 metres above sea level in some areas.

Your Elephant Bedroom Camp Samburu fly-in safari begins with a morning flight from Wilson Airport, Nairobi, to the camp airstrip. Your guide will meet you and transfer you by vehicle to Elephant Bedroom Camp.

Arriving at our lodge, lunch is served in the restaurant overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River and Samburu National Reserve on the opposite banks, with the towering Ol Olokwe Mountain in the background. After lunch, we embark on an afternoon game drive in Buffalo Springs or Samburu National Reserve. Here, we look out for rare and unusual animals such as the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx, and reticulated giraffe.

Other wildlife found here includes elephants, lions, wild dogs, cheetahs, hippos, hyenas, warthogs, and a variety of antelope species. Twitchers will also be enthralled with over 450 bird species found in the Samburu ecosystem.

After our rewarding game drive, we return to our tented lodge overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River and Samburu National Reserve for dinner and a laid-back evening in the Kenyan wilderness.

The next day is spent on safari in Samburu National Reserve. We’ll set off on early morning and later afternoon game drives to explore Samburu while the animals are at their most active. Then, during the heat of the day, we retreat to our comfortable tented camp. In between game drives, you are free to swim in the pool, rest in your spacious tented room overlooking the river, and relax in the lounge and camp areas with viewing decks.

Samburu National Reserve is a lesser-known Kenyan safari gem offering an uncrowded game-viewing experience. This arid game reserve is home to unusual animal species adapted to its dry and rugged environment. You can also see elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and African wild dogs here.

In addition to the big mammals and the Special 5 of Samburu, the reserve boasts an impressive array of birds, from kestrels and falcons to ostriches and whistling ducks. In the evenings, we enjoy a dinner buffet and unwind at the tented lodge beside the river. We also have an opportunity to visit a Samburu village. Samburu derives its name from the Samburu people who live in this region.

The Samburu tribe is a clan of the better-known Maasai people. It has a unique culture, leading a semi-nomadic existence as herders of camels, cattle, sheep, and goats across the parched African terrain. They have themselves become a popular tourist attraction and have so far avoided the negative impacts of mass tourism, retaining an authentic, genuine openness to visitors. Their singing, dancing, colourful and intricate beadwork, along with their immeasurable wealth of knowledge about the animals and environment, make meeting these gentle people a very special experience.

On day 3, we wake up to the African bush at the luxury tented camp and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Then it’s time to pack up and transfer back to the airstrip at Samburu for your flight to Nairobi. Arriving back in the city where our tour started, we head to the famous Carnivore restaurant for lunch.

After lunch, you are transferred to your city hotel in Nairobi or the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, bringing our memorable Kenya Safari to a close.

Your accommodations are at the luxurious Elephant Bedroom Camp. Elephant Bedroom Camp is a luxury tented camp offering just 12 exclusive tents and a central dining room, lounge, and bar.
