Day 1: Watamu to Tsavo West National Park
0500 Hours – 0600 Hours: Pick-up from your resort in Watamu/ Malindi

About Tsavo National Park
Tsavo East and Tsavo West together cover some 13747km², making this one of the biggest game reserves on earth. Famous for the lions of Tsavo, this national park is also home to the rest of the Big Five of Africa – buffalo, leopard, rhino, and elephant. Day 3: Amboseli to Watamu

Amboseli is famous for close encounters with big herds of elephants. This Kenyan national park is a photographer’s paradise, combining close-up wildlife sightings with scenic landscapes and the towering Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.
The vegetation of Amboseli varies seasonally, with green swamps during rainy periods and arid bush during dry periods, both well-suited to game viewing. Wildlife sightings include big cats and the Big Five.

Combining Kenya’s Tsavo West National Park with Amboseli National Park means a wide diversity of wildlife and scenery, as well as different cultures and experiences to look forward to. And with two different lodges on a 3-day itinerary, this tour is ideal for those looking to make the most of their time in Kenya.
The tour begins in Watamu or Malindi on the Kenyan coast, and you drive to Tsavo West National Park, home to the largest population of red elephants, as well as other members of the “Big 5” (buffalo, African lions, leopards, and rhinos).
The area has a wide variety of wildlife, including cheetah, buffalo, hippo, oryx, eland, zebra, giraffe, spotted hyena, kongoni, waterbuck, impala, duiker, and klipspringer. There are morning and afternoon game drives to look forward to, as well as birdwatching, excursions to Mzima Springs or the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, and cultural experiences.
Other attractions in Tsavo West National Park include Mzima Springs, Shaitani lava flow, Lake Jipe, Chyulu hills, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Chaimu Crater, and over 600 species of birds.
After one night in Tsavo West, the tour continues to Amboseli National Park, home to large herds of elephants whose population is among the few in Africa that have been spared by poachers.
Predators in the park include hyenas, jackals, lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Birdlife flourishes in abundance, particularly in the marshes and swamps. Over 420 species have been recorded in the park as a whole, including 6 species of vulture, 12 species of heron, and 10 species of eagle.
Spend a night at your choice of camp/ lodge with views of Mount Kilimanjaro, set inside or close to the boundaries of the Amboseli National Park. On day 3 you will enjoy breakfast at the lodge followed by a transfer back to Mombasa (250 km, about 5 hours) arriving mid-afternoon.

Lake Jipe attracts a lot of wildlife and is a good place for bird watching.
Mzima Springs is at the north end of Tsavo West. Watch the hippos swimming and underwater

Great views from Observation Hill: Amboseli National Park is predominantly flat except for several rocky outcrops and a small hill where you can get fabulous views of the national park and Mt Kilimanjaro. Observation Hill is great for both lookout and photo opportunities.
Amboseli swamps: A huge swamp that covers a large part of Amboseli National Park is fed by underground rivers from the melting snow of Mt Kilimanjaro.

Day 1: Watamu – Drive to Tsavo West National Park
After breakfast, depart for Tsavo West National Park. Enter Tsavo West and proceed with a safari game drive to the lodge for lunch and a short rest.
In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in Tsavo West, including a visit to the Rhino Sanctuary.
Have the opportunity to see the black rhino and other animals, including Cape buffalo, cheetahs, duikers, elephants, gazelles, gerenuks, giraffes, leopards, lions, etc.

Day 2: Tsavo West National Park – Amboseli National Park

Continue to Chyulu gate and on to Amboseli National Park. Enjoy a game drive in Amboseli on your way to the lodge for lunch.
Enjoy an optional visit to a Masai village, followed by an afternoon safari game drive. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
