This 4-day road safari to Sangare Conservancy begins and ends in Nairobi.  Sangare Conservancy is a private 4,250-acre wildlife sanctuary located in Nyeri County, Kenya, nestled between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range.

The Conservancy is located approximately 166 km north of Nairobi, 27 km from Nyeri town, and 50 km from Nanyuki. It offers an exclusive safari experience with a diverse landscape ranging from open plains to deep river valleys and indigenous forests.  

A high-standard fence has been built around the periphery of the property. As a result, Sangare Conservancy now boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna, including several rare species, with over 40 animal species. 

There are over 300 species of birds and 63 recorded species of indigenous trees and shrubs, including sandalwood (Osiris lanceolate), a prized timber now almost non-existent in many indigenous forests in Kenya.

There is a helper who makes the fires and also guides guests on walks. No other camping amenities are provided; guests need to bring all camping equipment with them, including lighting (there is no power point for charging electrical equipment), drinking water, soaps, and toilet paper

Day 1 Nairobi – Drive to Sangare Wildlife Conservancy (Aberdare/ Mt Kenya)

0800 Hours: After breakfast, depart by road to Sangare conservancy. The drive from Nairobi to the conservancy is scenic, passing through Kikuyu farm country.

You will make a brief stop at the Karatina market for a short tour of the local market. The drive from Nairobi takes 3 hours and covers 166 km to the ranch.

1230 Hours: Arrive at the Sangare area and proceed for check-in and lunch.

1530 Hours: Depart for the afternoon game drive. Sangare provides an important wildlife corridor between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare National Parks. Sangare has two large rivers running through it and two springs, providing a welcome refuge for wildlife during droughts when water is scarce.

Animals seen include Baboon, Monkey, Jackal, Hyena, Caracal, Leopard, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe, Eland, Waterbuck, gazelle, Impala, and Buffalo, among others.

1830 Hours: Return to the camp/ lodge for dinner and overnight
