4 Days 3 Nights Segera Retreat Lodge Laikipia Fly-in Safari offers an exclusive and premium safari experience in Kenya’s Laikipia Plateau while staying at the attractive elevated Segera Retreat villas.

Segera is situated in the wooded savannah and grasslands of the Laikipia Plateau. It is home to a vast array of animal, bird and plant life and provides an important corridor for the migration of elephants and other wide-ranging species.

The area has become a sanctuary for lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, eland and a wealth of plains game, including many endemic northern species such as reticulated giraffe and beisa oryx. 365 bird species have been recorded in the Laikipia area, the majority of which can be found on Segera.

These include the lesser kestrel and pallid harrier, sooty falcon, red-footed falcon, European roller and corncrake. It is also home to numerous reptile and insect species.

Our 4-day Segera Retreat fly-in safari from Nairobi starts with a transfer from your Nairobi hotel/ residence to Wilson Airport Nairobi. From here you will fly by light aircraft to Nanyuki Airstrip to connect with a road transfer to Segera. Road transfer from Nanyuki Airstrip, approximately 2 hours in a closed vehicle.

The types of aircraft vary from smaller Cessnas to Caravans. The flying time from Nairobi to Nanyuki Airstrip takes approximately 1.5 hours. Segera Retreat is one of Kenya’s most luxurious lodges and has eight luxury villas in a private game reserve of 50,000 acres in the foothills of Mt Kenya making Segera very private and exclusive.

Our representative will meet you at the Nanyuki Airstrip and transfer you (with a 4×4 safari vehicle) to the ranch house where you will enjoy Segera private game reserve activities. These include day and night game drives, picnics and sundowners, hides/ lookout points, guided walks, camel walks, a botanical garden, sleepouts and a wellness centre (Gym & Spa) etc.

At the end of your 3-night stay you will return by light aircraft to Wilson Airport. Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Segera Retreat Laikipia

Breakfast at your Nairobi Hotel followed by a transfer to Wilson Airport, and depart for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Nanyuki Airstrip. Nanyuki is your gateway to Laikipia County of Kenya lying northwest of Mount Kenya.

When you touch ground here, you will be just north (0 01 North) of the Equator! You will be collected from Nanyuki Airstrip and driven to Segera. Overlooking snow-capped Mount Kenya, the luxurious Segera Retreat is found on Laikipia’s savannah grasslands, home to the second-highest density of wildlife in Kenya.

Game drives, guided nature walks, and cultural activities showcase the environment, facilitated by an Experience Host and Guide.

Your stay includes all meals, all local drinks, (excludes owner’s selection of imported brands and champagne), retreat activities: drives walk, sleepouts, visiting a local homestead, and a variety of other community-based activities, laundry, WI-FI, and private vehicle.

Breakfast at the lodge. Departing with the vehicle for a safari with 4×4, where game activities can include off-road game drives, night drives, and game walks, camel treks, picnics, bush meals, sundowners, as well as village visits.

* Every lunch and dinner venue will be at a special spot and various venues will be within and offsite the retreat
* The dedicated guide can join you for meals, to learn more about the areas, the conservation aspects, etc
* Management at Segera will ensure that they get an expert on-site who is an ambassador for the Zeitz Foundation and share knowledge in regards to conservation efforts on Segera & Laikipia
* Segera and the Zeitz Foundation are involved in various school projects, and Segera is happy to organize a visit to the Waterbank School and the latest project the Samuel Eto Soccer Academy.

In addition to the above of course enjoying the retreat and the area, which is unfenced, where there is a game all year round. The Big 5 are seen, except for the rhino. There is numerous plains game, and the elusive wild dog and hyena.

Time to relax at the lodge, and make use of the facilities. After lunchtime to relax possibly take a bush walk with a ranger/ guide or make use of spa facilities. High tea overlooking the African savannah before embarking on an afternoon/ evening safari into the reserve.

Enjoy spectacular sundowner drinks overlooking a scenic area your guide will locate to watch the African sun dipping into the horizon. Return to the retreat and get ready for dinner.
