5 Days 4 Nights Kenya Fly-in Safari to Meru & the Masai Mara is a wonderful air safari that combines two of the country’s most iconic wildlife regions – Meru National Park -one of the most beautiful and untouched parks in Kenya and the Masai Mara – Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife Reserve.

This fly-in holiday takes you to where Elsa the Lion of Born Free fame lived, Meru in Kenya’s northern region and the wildlife-rich plains of the Masai Mara in the south during your luxury safari in Kenya.

Our 5-day fly-in package begins with an intimate journey aboard a small aircraft from Nairobi Wilson to Meru National Park where Elsa the Lion of Born Free fame lived when she was released back into the wild by Joy & George Adamson.

This iconic park with its diverse habitats from cool forests to semi-desert plains dotted with Baobabs is home to some unique wildlife. See reticulated giraffe and Lesser Kudu, which are seldom seen elsewhere in Kenya.

Meru National park activities include game viewing, bush meals, bush walks, hiking, massage, sundowners, fishing, bird watching, enjoying stunning sceneries, Adamson’s fall, Tana River and views of Mt. Kenya.

After two nights in Meru National park, you take to the skies to the Masai Mara in the southwest of Kenya. The most famous wildlife area in Kenya‚ the Maasai Mara National Reserve‚ is known not only for the annual great migration‚ but for year-round exceptional and abundant wildlife.

Over 100 mammal species are found here‚ including the Big Five‚ and over 450 bird species. Game viewing here is second to none. Activities in the reserve include game drives, Masai village visits, game walks, bird watching and balloon safaris.

Safari Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Meru National Park

This morning after breakfast at your hotel/ residence in Nairobi we transfer you to Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to Meru National Park. On arrival at the airstrip, you’ll be met and transferred to the camp with an en-route game drive.

Upon arrival at the camp, check-in and enjoy lunch. After lunch enjoy your new home, take a swim or relax and take some rest, following late afternoon tea, proceed for a game drive. The open plains are dotted with acacias and mighty baobabs, which provide much-needed reprieve to the elephants, from the harsh African sun.

Meru National Park is home to a wide variety of animals and more than 400 recorded species of birds. The park is well known for its fauna and natural beauty and as the home of Elsa, the beloved Lioness made famous in the award-winning movie BORN FREE and the best-selling book was written by Joy Adamson with the same title.

Day 2: Discover Meru National Park

Enjoy a full-day game drive in the park. Wake up early and see the sleeping hyraxes huddled together as you make your way for an early morning game drive. Watch as the sun rises and the savanna takes on a rosy hue, the nocturnal game looking for shelter and the plains game celebrate another night of survival.

Explore the various habitats, along the many rivers, forests and open plains. Other range of activities in the camp includes bush walks, or visiting the nearby rhino sanctuary.

Day 3: Meru National Park – Fly to Masai Mara Game Reserve

Early morning game drive and breakfast in camp before heading out to the airstrip to board a scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. The scenic flight is a great opportunity to take in the scope of the landscape of Kenya.

Delight in some of the best game viewing in Africa en route to the camp, look for Topi as they stand proudly on top of an anthill. Search for cheetahs lying down in the golden grassy plains, on the hunt for any passing game.

After lunch relax before taking a game drive with your guide and explore the Masai Mara. Heading back to camp as the sun begins to fall in time for some pre-dinner drinks and canapés around the fire.

Day 4: Discover Masai Mara Game Reserve

The Masai Mara is a patchy landscape of open savannahs dotted with umbrella Acacia trees. Traverse the area in a safari vehicle driven by knowledgeable guides who know the area intimately.

Learn more about the fascinating termites, whose homes tower across the plains. Smell the unique fragrance of the African bush and sample some of the plants as you learn about the healing properties that the Maasai still utilise today.

See herds of elephants, graceful Giraffe and plains game while on your game drives. Search for leopards languishing in a tree. Look for cheetahs and lions intent on a kill. The Masai Mara is the ideal destination, at any time of the year, as it offers some exceptional game viewing.

It is well known for its large concentrations of big cats and abundance of resident wildlife and of course, the enigmatic Maasai people themselves.

Day 5: Masai Mara Game Reserve– Fly to Nairobi

On the final morning of your Meru and Masai Mara Safari Package, there will be a final game drive in the Masai Mara. Tuck into a delicious breakfast before being driven to the airstrip and catching a flight back to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport.
