5 Days Uganda Safari Murchison Falls Queen Elizabeth National Park is a private African wildlife vacation package which includes the best highlights of Uganda. The tour features a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track Rhinos.

The Rhino trek takes 1-2 hours and you will get an opportunity of viewing them at close quarters. You have two days to explore Murchison Falls, including a boat trip to the bottom of the Falls. The vegetation is characterized by savannah, riverine forest and woodland.

Murchison Falls wildlife includes lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hartebeest, oribi, Uganda kob, chimpanzee and many bird species including the rare shoebill. After, the trip takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park for 2 days where game-viewing done both in your own private vehicle and by boat along the Kazinga Channel.

The launch cruise on Kazinga Channel a highlight as you come eye to eye with yawning hippo and possibly spot crocodile on the banks. Elephant and buffalo frequent the shore while there are vast numbers of migrant and resident water birds.

5 Days Uganda Safari Murchison Falls Queen Elizabeth National Park Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kampala/ Entebbe we depart and drive through the famous Luwero triangle. A stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary enables you to have a brief tour of this Rhino restoration project.

Following the extinction of Uganda’s Rhino in the early 1980s during the period of civil unrest and heavy poaching, a sanctuary established to breed black and white rhino, and restore rhino populations in Uganda’s protected areas.

Our journey continues and we make another stopover in Masindi for Lunch. After lunch we proceed to Murchison Falls National Park through the western arm of the Great Rift Valley and make a stop at the top of the falls.

It is here that the river Nile explodes through a narrow gorge to create a falls and flows down to become a placid river with rainbow colors. After, we proceed to our accommodations for the night.

Day 2: Explore Murchison Falls National Park on Game Drives & Boat Safari

After breakfast we proceed to the northern part of the park in search for bird life and enjoy a safari game-run to looking out for leopard, Hartebeest, lion, giraffe, elephant and buffaloes etc.

We return back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch we proceed for a 2 hour boat cruise on the foot of Murchison Falls. This boat trip along the Nile is often cited as being the highlight of a trip to Murchison since it allows you to get up-close and personal with the animals.

Along this stretch of the river, there are reported to be around 4,000 hippos in addition to some enormous Nile crocodiles. The bird life is stunning with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks.  If lucky, you may see the rare and prehistoric looking shoebill, which is a cross between the dodo and a dinosaur.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Te journey takes us through Masindi, Hoima, Mabale, Kagadi towns via the tea plantations in kyenjonjo.

We have lunch in Fort portal town and continue by road to Kasese town located 80 km away. We enjoy spectacular views of the Rwenzori mountains and the Lake George of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

When you reach Queen Elizabeth National Park, you shall check-in to your accommodation, have dinner, and get some rest for the night to prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park (Game drive and Kazinga channel boat cruise)

After enjoying an early breakfast we proceed for game drive in the park which provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbucks, Uganda kob, topi, bush bucks etc.

After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hours launch cruise on Kazinga Channel (departs at 1500 hours and returns at 1700 hours). This trip will pass through possibly the highest concentration of hippo, buffalo, elephant and birds that may be seen drinking at the water’s edge.

This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing, the climax for this Uganda safari.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Drive to Kampala/ Entebbe (Optional Chimpanzee tracking)

After an early breakfast in case you so wish, proceed to Kyambura gorge for a walk to search for the chimps. The main activity here is chimpanzee tracking though the chances of seeing the chimps in this gorge are at 50-50.

However, this is compensated with the presences of the other primates, and the gorge itself is a beautiful place to visit.

Alternative you could have a cup of  tea, coffee or hot chocolate followed by game drive through the Kasenyi Park. At sunrise there are good chances to see lion, hyena, and leopard.

Return to your accommodations for breakfast then check-out and begin your journey to Kampala. You will have a lunch en route on your way to Kampala/ Entebbe. Transfer to your hotel or to the Airport for your departure flight.
