6 Day Tanzania Safari Serengeti & Zanzibar Beach Holiday | 6 Days 5 Nights Tanzania Road & Air Safari Serengeti National Park & Zanzibar Beach Holiday From Arusha | 6 Days Tanzania Serengeti Safari and Zanzibar beach holiday | 6 Days Serengeti Great Migration Safari & Zanzibar Beach Holiday | Tanzania Beach & Bush Safari | Tanzania Safari Holidays

Zuri Zanzibar Beach Resort

This 6 day Tanzania bush & beach holiday combines the world-renowned Serengeti National Park with the idyllic white-sand beaches of palm-fringed Zanzibar Island.

The Serengeti National Park offers superb year-round game viewing but is best known for the annual Great Migration when breathtakingly vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and other wild animals stampede across the open plains in search of fresh grazing and water.

After experiencing the wildlife adventure of a lifetime you fly to the exotic Zanzibar Islands for the last few days. Kick back and relax on the tropical, Indian Ocean beaches of Zanzibar and discover Spice Island’s rich history and intriguing cultures.

Our road and air safari package begin in Arusha, where we collect you from your hotel and hit the road to the Serengeti National Park. The park is UNESCO World Heritage and is partly adjacent to the Kenya border and is northwest of the adjoining Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

We spend the afternoon and the whole of day two exploring the Serengeti. The main attraction is the Great Migration, consisting of up to 2 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras, and 350,000 Thompson, and grant’s gazelles – many consider it to be the most spectacular remaining African wildlife spectacle.

The predator viewing here is exceptional with approximately 3-4,000 lions and huge numbers of cheetah, leopard, and hyena. Other animals commonly found in the park include topi, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, elephant, caracal, serval, bat-eared fox, hyrax, genet, hares, porcupine, aardvark, giraffe, jackal, mongoose, crocodile, monitor lizard, aardwolf, many kinds of primates including baboons, vervet and colobus monkeys, and over 500 species of bird.

Day three, we transfer to the closest airstrip in the Serengeti and fly to the Island of Zanzibar. On arrival, we are met at the airport by a driver for the transfer to Stonetown and start the Zanzibar holiday. Once settled in at the hotel your guide will take you on a walking tour of Stonetown.

While you wander around the city, your guide will take you on a historical and cultural journey through the old slave market, Darajani marketplace, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace.

Day four begins with a visit to the spice farms – an important industry in Zanzibar. Introduced by the Omani Arabs in the 19th century at a time when spices were a valuable commodity worldwide, spices became Zanzibar’s primary income source after the demise of the slave trade.

They play an important role in the lives of the Zanzibaris in their cuisine, as a cure for many ailments, and the dyes and henna are used for decoration at festivals and weddings. This tour is a walking tour of a spice farm (shamba). While there, you shall see how the spices, herbs, and fruits grow and are cultivated. Your tour guide will describe how the crops can be used.

You will be smelling and tasting spices, herbs, and tropical fruits such as clove, lemongrass, nutmeg, cinnamon, turmeric, vanilla, coconuts, papaya, chili, black pepper, jackfruit, cardamom, cassava, and oranges. After the tour, you will enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch at the farm.

Later we return to your hotel/ resort and sit back, relax and enjoy the tropical beach, warm Indian Ocean, and resort facilities.

Day five is yours to do as you please. Enjoy some watersports, kayaking, windsurfing, diving or you may choose to take a dolphin tour or a boat cruise. If that’s all too energetic for you visit the spa or chill by the pool, soaking up some rays.

On day six, your Zanzibar holiday package comes to an end. Your driver will collect you after breakfast for your transfer to the airport.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1:  Arusha – Drive to Serengeti National Park

This 6-day Tanzania road Safari begins in Arusha, where you are collected from the hotel followed by a transfer to Serengeti National park the epicenter of the great wildebeest migration. On arrival, you will straight away start your game viewing sessions as you head to your lodge for check-in.

The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s largest and most famous park. Established in 1951, it gets its name from the Masaai word Siringet meaning ‘Endless Plain’. Covering over 14 000 km² of grassland plains and savannah, it’s not hard to see why.

This is one of the best safari destinations in the world, rivaling Kenya’s Masai Mara. Here you will see a rich variety of wildlife roaming the African savannahs that stretch out as far as the eye can see.

Overnight Accommodation: Serengeti Serena Lodge or similar
Meal Plan: {Lunch & Dinner}

Day 2: Full day in the Serengeti National Park

Today is without question one of the highlights of your safari. After a rich breakfast, you will start your adventure a little earlier than usual. During a full-day game drive, you will experience the Serengeti in its full glory today!

The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most complex and intact ecosystems. Therefore, you can look forward to countless plant species like the characteristic umbrella acacias and millions of mammals like zebras, elephants, and antelopes. The Serengeti is also home to the “Big 5” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard) and over sixteen species of antelope,  zebra, giraffe, hippo, and aardvark.

In the evening you will return to your lodge where you will have a delicious dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Serengeti Fly to Zanzibar Island

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Seronera Airstrip or the closest airstrip to catch your flight to the Island of Zanzibar. On arrival, guests are met at the airport by their driver for the transfer to Stonetown and the start of this Zanzibar holiday package tour.

Once settled in at the hotel your guide will arrive to take you on a walking tour of Stonetown. It is as if time stood still in this fascinating city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The interesting architecture is a testament to the various cultures, African, Arab, Indian, and European, that have occupied this island.

Wander through winding alleys and admire the ornately carved and studded wooden doors, archways, and aging shutters. Primarily a Muslim country as shown by the numerous mosques in Stonetown there are also two cathedrals to serve the Christians who arrived with the British.

Visit the Arab fort, built by Omani Arabs after the Portuguese were expelled. It has served as a prison, garrison and today is a drawcard for tourists with its cultural centre, market, restaurants, and amphitheater.

The old slave market is the site today of the Anglican Cathedral Church of Christ, a building that houses many tributes to the city’s heinous past. Slave trade was a thriving industry in the 18th and 19th centuries until shut down by the British in 1873. The guide has many stories to tell, some amusing but many that tell the tale of the hardship experienced on this island.

Stonetown has a bustling market and many gift shops that have souvenirs and handicrafts on sale. The colorful market is filled with the aroma of the spices that give this island its Spice Island moniker.

After a busy day, the guide will escort you back to the hotel/ resort. Freshen up and step out again to dine in one of Stonetown’s restaurants.

This morning after breakfast guests leave the city behind and head to their accommodation at the beach. En-route there is a stop to take in a spice tour – an important industry in Zanzibar.

They play an important role in the lives of the Zanzibaris in their cuisine, as a cure for many ailments, and the dyes and henna are used for decoration at festivals and weddings.

When you see spices such as cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, nutmeg, and turmeric root growing in the plantations, it’s easy to see why Zanzibar is known as the spice island. Taste some of the unusual fruits that are grown here too, such as jack fruit, custard apple, rambutan, and carambola.

Henna bush, lipstick tree, and lemongrass are some of the plants grown here too. With heads filled with the aromas of this plantation, it’s time to continue to your accommodation at the Shooting Star Resort (or similar), for the next few days. Now is the time to sit back, relax and enjoy the tropical beach, warm Indian Ocean, and resort facilities.
