6 Days Uganda Rwanda Wildlife Safari Chimpanzees Gorilla Trekking Tour is a Uganda and Rwanda combo safari that begins in Kampala, Uganda and ends in Kigal, Rwanda.
The trip offers you an opportunity to track the rare mountain gorillas, track the Chimpanzee of Kyambura Gorge and other wildlife such as the tree climbing lions of Ishasha, the ground dwelling lions in Kasenyi extension, leopard, the cape buffalo, elephant, waterbuck, side stripped jackal and the spotted Hyena etc.
The safari begins with a visit to Kibale National Park – famously known for Chimpanzee tracking The park is home to a total of 70 mammal species, most famously 13 species of primate including the chimpanzee.
After Kibale you proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited National Park popular for boat safaris on Kazinga Channel and to the bottom of the Falls.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is also known for Chimpanzee Trekking at the Chambura Gorge or Kalinzu Forest, tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector and game viewing & safari drives in the Kasenyi sector in search of Lion and large herds of Buffaloes and Elephants.
The grand finale is the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda known as a haven for the rare and endangered mountain gorilla and golden monkeys.

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kampala/ Entebbe a safari briefing follows about the trip ahead, then begin your journey for Kibale National Park.
The drive of around 6 hours, including stops for lunch through fantastic scenery, with plenty of stops for photography.
Arrive late afternoon at your choice of accommodation. The rest of the day is yours to relax at the lodge or take time to explore nearby crater lakes.

Day 2: Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Tracking – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
This morning is an early start as you head into Kibale forest with the chimpanzee team and hopefully enjoy your first encounter with the chimpanzees.
This moist evergreen forest is well known for its large number of chimpanzees (thought to be up to 700) but is also home to a host of other primates.
Not only will you track the Chimpanzees with guides from the Uganda Wildlife Authority but you will have the opportunity to study and observe their movements and behavior.
Depending on where the chimpanzees nested the night before, it may take anything from ten minutes to over an hour to reach the nesting site.
Continue your journey south on to Queen Elizabeth National Park, having a lunch stop at Fort Portal.
Once at you arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park you will proceed for a game drive in search for elephants, the Uganda Kob, (an endemic antelope), buffaloes and the famous tree climbing lions, before arriving at your accommodations.

Day 3: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park
We begin our day early with breakfast and then go for a morning game drive, an awesome experience to spot the animals in natural habitats.
Expect to see the famous Big 4; Elephant, Buffalos, Lions, Bush bucks, Kobs, Giant forest hog, Hyenas leopards, antelopes, and Waterbucks as well as birds.
You will return for breakfast / early lunch and go for a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga channel to see animals at close range like hippo, buffalo, crocodile and elephant bathing at the banks of the channel.
There is also a variety of bird species on the water banks especially the famous Shoebill, pelican and Jacana. You will there after retire for dinner and overnight at your accommodations.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth – Drive to the Uganda/ Rwanda Border – Drive to Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast travel to Rwanda to the Volcanoes National Park, some 134km away from Lake Bunyonyi.
The journey takes approximately 5 hours excluding the border crossing procedural time. You will arrive in Ruhengeri town in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today you will start early! From the lodge, you drive into the park about 30 minutes to the Office Rwandais du Tourisme et Des Parc Nationaux (ORTPN).
The head ranger of the ORTPN will divide you into groups based on interest and fitness. From here your driver/guide will take you as close as possible to the starting point of your tracking.
Today you will track one of the habituated Gorilla groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. The time taken to track the gorillas can take as little as half an hour to as much as 8 hours!
Your track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorillas’ current location.
Your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. Once the gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them.
Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Rwanda’s own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

Day 6: Volcanoes National Park – Drive to Kigali
After a sumptious breakfast you will then depart from foothills of the volcanoes, drive southwards past the scenic coffee, tea and banana plantations, on your way back to Kigali.
If you have time take a sight-seeing tour of Kigali City which could include any of the following places – Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, The Kadt House – Museum of Natural History or the Presidential Palace Museum.
