7 Days 6 Nights Kenya Fly-in Safari to Masai Mara National Reserve is a luxury guided safari that combines a safari in the Masai Mara National Park and a safari in the private Olderkesi Wildlife Conservancy located adjacent to Masai Mara National Park. This combo safari lets you experience the best of both worlds.
A guided safari in the Masai Mara National Park is quite different from a safari at a private Conservancy. Both have their advantages. This trip combines three nights in Masai Mara at Governors Il Moran Camp, followed by three nights at Cottar’s 1920s Camp for you to experience the best of both worlds.
Depart from Nairobi by air to Masai Mara National Reserve and spend three nights at Governors Il Moran Camp – a small and intimate tented camp set on the inside of a thickly wooded bend of the Mara River in the Musiara sector of the Maasai Mara. The camp has only 10 spacious luxurious safari tents under canvas.
All meals and game drives are included. You will have highly experienced guides and will see a huge variety of wildlife and explore a large part of the Masai Mara National Park, driving through different landscapes and vegetation types.
On day 4 we transfer you to Olderkesi Conservancy which forms part of the Greater Masai Mara National Reserve. There are no fences between Masai Mara and the private Olderkesi Conservancy. During game drives, the vehicles are able to go off-road to get closer to the animals.
Here we stay at the Cottar’s 1920s Camp where we enjoy activities such as day and night game drives, bush walks, Maasai village visits, conservation, and community tours, the life of hunter-gatherer tours, local school visits, Maasai village visits, Massage, and other Spa treatments and balloon Ride over the Maasai Mara.

Safari Itinerary in Detail
Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast at your city hotel/ residence, we transfer you to Wilson Airport for your flight to Masai Mara. The flight takes around 45 minutes and you fly over the scenically beautiful Great Rift Valley.
On arrival at the Musiara Airstrip in the Masai Mara, you will be met and driven a short distance to Governors’ Il Moran Camp. Lunch in camp, then head out for an afternoon game drive to explore the Masai Mara National Reserve. Returning to camp for pre-dinner drinks around the campfire, dinner, and overnight.
Governors’ Il Moran Camp is hidden under ancient trees, deep in the forest, are just 10 luxury tents. They line the winding banks of the Mara River as it winds its way through the Paradise Plains area of the eastern Mara, which provides the backdrop to one of the greatest migrations and wildlife spectacles known to man. This makes Il Moran an Africa Safari unrivalled by no other.
Each of the vast tents features a super ‘king size’ bed fashioned from ancient fallen olive trees and Victorian-style baths. Dinner is served by candlelight in the open dining tent or alfresco by the river.

Day 2 & 3: Explore Masai Mara Game Reserve
Embark on an early morning game drive at dawn, returning to the camp in your own time for a full hunter’s breakfast, served al fresco overlooking the waterhole. After breakfast, there is the opportunity to take another game drive along the banks of the Mara River.
Alternatively, you could visit some of Governors’ Camp’s responsible tourism community initiatives, or enjoy a unique cultural experience with a visit to a Masai Manyatta (village). After lunch, an afternoon game drive finishes with drinks around the campfire and a scrumptious dinner.
Note: On one of the days in the morning during your stay at the camp, you will enjoy the incredible and surreal experience of a hot air balloon safari. Depart the camp at 5.15 am to the Balloon Safari take-off site at Little Governors’. A fabulous I-hour Hot Air Balloon safari across the plains of the Masai Mara.
On landing enjoy a champagne bush breakfast, freshly cooked in the middle of the Mara plains. Later enjoy a game drive back to camp to complete an unforgettable experience.

Day 4: Masai Mara Game – Transfer to Masai Mara (Private Olderkesi Conservancy)
After an early morning game drive and breakfast at Governors’ Il Moran Camp, pack your bags for the next leg of the safari, with a game drive across the breadth of the Masai Mara Game Reserve to Keekorok airstrip where your Cottar’s Camp guide will meet you. Transfer with a game drives en route to Cottar’s 1920s Camp in time for a late lunch.
The afternoon is at leisurely exploring the private 7,600-acre Olderkesi Conservancy and its rich wildlife.
Located just outside the Maasai Mara, on 22,000 square acres worth of private Olderkesi Conservancy. Cottar’s 1920s Camp is within easy reach of the park and offers an altogether different experience in terms of pace, privacy, and gold tap authenticity.
Catering for just 12 guests, Cottars 1920’s Safari Camp consists of a shared tent – dining area, bar, lounge, library – and 6 sleeping tents. Activities at Cottars 1920’s Safari Camp include 4×4 wildlife drives, walking safaris, the chance to travel in – and view wildlife from – an authentic wooden car, sundowners, massage, pedicures, and manicures.
The guiding is – as one would expect – top-notch.

Day 5 & 6: Explore Masai Mara (Private Olderkesi Conservancy)

Day 7: Masai Mara – Fly to Nairobi
Enjoy a last early morning game drive before heading to the Keekorok airstrip after breakfast. You are met on arrival at Wilson Airport and transferred to Carnivore or Talisman restaurant for lunch (payable direct), before the final transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for the international flight departure, or alternative onward arrangements.
