8 Days 7 Nights Kenya Fly-in Safari Nairobi Solio Masai Mara

Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi – Transfer to The Giraffe Manor Hotel

You will be met at the airport and transferred to Giraffe Manor for the 11 am check-in.  Giraffe Manor is a unique boutique hotel in the heart of Nairobi, famous for its resident herd of endangered Rothschild giraffes.

It is also home to many characters including warthogs, bushbuck, dik dik and more than 180 species of birds and has a striking view of the Ngong hills. The manor house was originally built as a private home in the 1930s and has twelve bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.

The main activity at the Manor is feeding the giraffe and warthog. Other activities include bird watching, visiting the AFEW centre, being with the giraffes and excursions into the city. You could also visit a Maasai Market, arrange trips to the Kenyan National Museum or visit the orphaned elephants at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust etc.

Day 2, 3, 4: Nairobi – Fly to Solio Game Reserve in Laikipia

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to Wilson Airport in Nairobi for your light aircraft flight to the Solio Ranch in Laikipia.

Solio Lodge is situated within its very own private wildlife sanctuary, tucked in the valley between the rising slopes of Mount Kenya and the peaks of the Aberdare Mountains. Intimacy and exclusivity are showcased in the luxurious lodge’s five private cottages, each individually decorated with comfort, style and the view in mind. 

Spend 3 Nights at Solio Lodge enjoying a variety of activities that are on offer. Night and day game drives provide guests with a chance to see many species including both black and white rhinoceros, leopards, lions, cheetahs, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and warthogs. It’s not uncommon to see upwards of 40 rhinos in a single drive, as there are over 200 within the reserve.

Other methods of exploration include walking, horseback riding and mountain biking around Solio Ranch. Scenic helicopter flights to nearby Mount Kenya, accompanied by a hilltop picnic breakfast or trout fishing in the Aberdare National Park, can be arranged at additional cost and are incredibly unique ways to experience Kenya off the beaten track.

Massage therapists are also available for treatments within your cottage at an added cost.

Day 5, 6, 7: Solio Ranch – Fly to The Masai Mara Game Reserve:

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nanyuki airstrip for your flight to the Masai Mara and Sala’s Camp. On arrival at the Masai Mara Keekorok airstrip, you will be met and transferred to the camp. For the next few days, you will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. 

One of the best-placed camps in the Maasai Mara, Sala’s Camp gives a contemporary take on tradition with just seven tented rooms in the very south of the Mara, perfectly placed for some exceptional game viewing and in a lovely tranquil spot.

Activities include game drives in 4×4 vehicles in the world’s most prolific game areas. The Maasai Mara is home to the ‘Big Five’ as well as the world-famous annual migration of wildebeest which usually takes place between July and October. Bird watching and star gazing is also a must. The camp can also arrange hot air ballooning at an additional cost.

Day 8: Masai Mara – Fly to Nairobi

Today you will fly back to Nairobi Wilson where a lovely day room at elegant Hemingways in Nairobi will be waiting for you.

After lunch, you will be taken to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where you can watch the baby elephants being fed and learn all about the vital work the team do in Kenya and further afield.

After the visit, you will be transferred to the international airport for your flight home.
