This 9-day Tanzania Southern Circuit Fly-in itinerary beautifully combines an authentic Selous safari with ultimate beach relaxation on the island of Zanzibar. This inspiring Tanzanian safari takes you deep into the heart of the magnificent Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania.
Remote, personal and tranquil, the Selous is one of our favorite safari destinations in Tanzania. The reserve’s wildlife is so diverse that the area has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also regarded as one of Africa’s last great wilderness areas.
Expect to encounter vast herds of buffalo of over 120 000 animals, large families of hippo and exceptionally big groups of antelope and other wildlife. Selous is also a sanctuary for less frequently encountered species such as the endangered African wild dog, the elegant sable and the puku antelope.
Take full advantage of game viewing either by boat, vehicle or on foot as you enjoy four nights relaxing and unwinding in a peaceful part of the reserve in an authentic tented camp – Selous Serena Camp, Sand River Selous Camp or at the Beho Beho camp.
After your safari you can relax and unwind on the exotic island of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean. Included in this trip is four nights at the – Unguja Lodge, Zuri Zanzibar Beach Resort or andBeyond Mnemba Island Lodge all ideal spots to unwind or enjoy the many activities that Zanzibar has to offer.
Depart Dar es Salaam by air to Selous Game Reserve for 4 nights exploring different areas of the magnificent Reserve. Based at either Selous Serena Camp, Sand River Selous Camp or at the Beho Beho camp you will enjoy foot safaris, game drives and a boat safari making this an unforgettable safari in one of Africa’s last true wilderness areas.
Fly to Zanzibar and stay for 4 nights at Unguja Lodge, Zuri Zanzibar Beach Resort or andBeyond Mnemba Island Lodge. The perfect end to the trip with a wide variety of water sports available including diving or snorkeling the in the brilliantly colored reefs, deep sea fishing boats and water-skiing, or alternatively just relax on the unspoilt white sand beach or by the fresh water swimming pool.
On the last day of the trip you will enjoy a relaxed breakfast then transferred to Dar Es Salaam for a day room use. In the evening you will be transferred to Dar Es Salaam International Airport for your flight back home.

Day 1, 2, 3 & 4: Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania – Fly to Selous Game Reserve
After breakfast at your hotel in Dar-es-salaam, a member from African Spice Safaris team will transfer you to Dar es Salaam Airport, in time for your scheduled flight to Lower Selous Airstrip.
Secluded and off the beaten track, the Selous Game Reserve offers visitors a slice of undisturbed wilderness, teeming with a spectacular array of fauna and flora. It was declared a World Heritage Site due to its dramatic landscapes and great diversity of wildlife.
Escape and explore during your 4-night stay at Sand River Selous in a Hillside Suite with en-suite bathroom. Your stay includes all meals, activities on shared basis, return airstrip transfers, drinks (except champagne and premium wines) and laundry.
Included activities are game drives, bush walks, bush picnics, boat trips, fly camping, sundowners, trip to the hot spring & fishing.

Day 5,6,7 & 8: Selous – Fly to Zanzibar Island
You will be transferred from Sand River Selous for your scheduled flight from Lower Selous Airstrip to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. Zanzibar is an island steeped in culture and history – a destination which brought adventurers, seafarers and traders from far and wide.
A member from African Spice Safaris team will collect you from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport and drive you to Zuri Zanzibar Hotel & Resort. Unwind during your 4-night stay at Zuri Zanzibar Hotel & Resort in an Ocean Front Suite with en-suite bathroom.
Your stay includes all meals, welcome drink upon arrival, bottle of mineral water, soft drinks, tea, coffee, beer, in-house alcoholic drinks (beer, in-house wines), afternoon tea, daily minibar refills and cocktails.
