An African safari is about the animals…thundering herds, thousands of creatures on the plains, in the craters and in the jungle.

All of Africa pulses with the sights and sounds of the last true paradise left on earth.  But sometimes there can be more to a safari than just wildlife.

On that rare and wonderful occasion, there can be splendour and elegance beyond your wildest imagination.

Safari Itinerary in Detail

Day 1 : Nairobi  Ol Pejeta Conservancy 

This morning we travel by road to the heart of Kenya’s Laikipia region, Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

This 70,000-acre private preserve has views of the peaks of Mount Kenya and offers game drives into the countryside many travellers never see.

We check into our tented camp or Lodge where we stay for the next two nights.

We have lunch in camp. Sweetwaters land, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its sumptuous ranch were once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi.

This afternoon game drive takes us to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens!

Day 2 & 3 : Ol Pejeta Conservancy 

The conservancy has been home to the last 3 Northern white rhino in the world. In fact, Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya.

Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters.

Whether it’s day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by the pool, Sweetwaters is bound to delight.

Day 4 : Ol Pejeta Conservancy  Mara Naboisho Conservancy

After breakfast, we depart for Masai Mara in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy- a private conservancy. The conservancy is a groundbreaking project of tourism benefiting conservation and community

Day 5: Mara Naboisho Conservancy

The big cats are in impressive numbers and there are also herds of elephant, giraffe, and wildebeest.

Game viewing with the local guides is fantastic and interspersed with cultural experiences to create a safari that’s both informative and truly authentic.

Rare species such as Aardvark, Caracal, Serval cat, Aardwolf, and Ratel are occasionally found

There are lots of activities to choose from; game drives and walks, cultural visits and night drive too.

Naboisho is a bird watcher’s paradise with several bird species rarely seen elsewhere in the Mara such as White-Headed Buffalo-Weavers, Northern White-Crowned Shrike, Pigmy Falcon, Von Der Dickens Hornbills and Bush Pipits.

Day 6: Mara Naboisho Conservancy- Masai Mara National Reserve

After the morning breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed with an en-route game drive to the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino.

Lunch at our Lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game run. The Mara Game Reserve—one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied and easy to see.

Residents among the Park’s are Maasai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland and thousand of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson’s and grants Gazelles.

Day 8: Explore Masai Mara Game Reserve

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

During our stay, we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals.

A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.
