Safari Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Samburu Game Reserve

After breakfast, today we drive to Samburu Game Reserve. You have the opportunity to see the unique five.

Wildlife is found only in the northern frontier that is, Gerenuk, Grevy’s zebras, Oryx, Reticulated giraffes, and the Somali Ostrich.

This is Kenya’s semi-arid region characterized by the vast, open landscape which also includes dried river beds, red volcanic soil, rock outcropping, river acacia trees, and doum palm trees.

Your luxury tented camp or Lodge accommodations are along the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River famous for its big crocodiles.

A game drive is planned for you this afternoon.

Day 2Samburu Game Reserve

Dawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand.

Before the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands.

And so the day is spent in alternating pursuits of exploration in the bush and relaxation in our cozy camp or Lodge.

Day 3: Samburu – Drive to Aberdare or Mt. Kenya National Park (Tree Lodge)

Early morning game viewing in Samburu, breakfast, and depart for Treetops in the Aberdare National Park arriving in time for lunch at the Outspan Country Club.

Afternoon transfer to Treetops Lodge for floodlit game viewing. Contains a variety of wild game among them Elephants, Rhino, Leopard, Bushbuck, Elusive Bongo, and Giant Forest Hog.

Day 4: Tree Lodge – Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

Today we drive towards the Great Rift Valley for a memorable one night stay at Lake Nakuru National Park. The Park is famous for the big five (except the elephants) and the two species of the white and back rhinos.

It is also home to the famous lesser and greater flamingoes, Rothschild giraffe, and a bird sanctuary.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve

This morning we drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve.

This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino.

Lunch at our Lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game run.

The Mara Game Reserve-one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied and easy to see.

Residents among the Park’s are Maasai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland, and thousand of plain games including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson’s and grants Gazelles.

Day 6 & Day 7: Discover Masai Mara

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today and tomorrow during extensive game runs.

On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

During our stay, we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Maasai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals.

A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

Day 8: Masai Mara – Drive to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, we drive to Amboseli National Park. The Park is famous for the big herds of elephants and the view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

After lunch is served you’ll have time to relax or enjoy the sun heated swimming pool before leaving for another game drive this afternoon.

We will be back in good time for a warm shower or a cocktail before dinner is served.

Day 9: Explore Amboseli National Park

Two game drives are scheduled for this day. The open flat plains are ideal places to search for pride of lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, zebras, and wildebeests.

The swamps are good places to catch the elephants as they bathe in the mud. There are wealth and diversity of bird species.

Also, discover the African Culture by visiting a local Maasai Village.

Day 10Amboseli – Drive to Nairobi
