Akagera Rhino Lodge Rwanda

Akagera Rhino Lodge Rwanda is an eco-lodge located in Kayonza at Nyagakongi Hill, on the edge of Akagera National Park, just 10 minute’s drive (6 Km) from the Akagera National Park’s Main Entrance.

The main entry point into Rwanda is Kigali international airport. Akagera National Park is located in the east of Rwanda, about 110km from Kigali the capital of Rwanda. The drive takes about 2½ hours.  There are no domestic flights to Akagera, but African Spice Safaris can organize charter helicopter transfers. The flight from Kigali to Akagera takes about 20 minutes.

Akagera Rhino Lodge is surrounded by nature and a beautiful landscape. The lodge is nestled at the top of one of Rwanda’s thousand hills with an absolutely exquisite view of Akagera National Park with a unique eco-tourism experience and a perfect place to sit, relax and soak in magnificent views of central Africa’s largest protected wetland system.

Akagera National Park is Central Africa’s largest protected wetland and the last remaining refuge for savannah-adapted species in Rwanda. Akagera Rhino Lodge Rwanda consists of 20 spacious and comfortable rooms built on Wood and stone that have been skilfully crafted by local artisans into custom rooms and furnishings that give Akagera Rhino Lodge a uniquely Rwandan design.

Each room is outfitted with premium mattresses, custom furnishings, and bathrooms stocked with locally- sourced toiletries. A terrace with mountain views is offered in all units. All rooms have ensuite facilities like flushing toilets, mosquito nets, hot or cold running showers, and bathtubs.

Dine in an open-air restaurant and enjoy international cuisine and traditional African dishes. The lodge also serves coffee and fresh juice made from locally sourced beans and fruit. The delicious menu includes intercontinental and African cuisines, with a mouth-watering and subtle fusion of all two fares.

These are complemented by a selection of home-baked bread and garden fresh fruits and vegetables. The dining space includes a large, outdoor patio with thatched roof-shaded tables for those who wish to enjoy an open-air meal during the day or delight in a starry dinner under the night sky.
