Fly from Nairobi to Masa Mara and back, jumping straight into the game viewing adventure and doing away with the long days of driving on rough roads. This Basecamp Explorer Mara 3 Day Fly-in Safari explores a private conservancy in the greater Mara ecosystem, as well as the famous Masai Mara National Reserve – one of Africa’s top game parks.

Basecamp Masai Mara is situated along the Talek river in a tropical forest and the Masai Mara National Reserve is just across the river.  The Masai Mara is home to the highest density of wildlife in the world, the Big 5, and the 7^th wonder of the world – The Wildebeest Migration. Set off into the reserve with expert guides, enjoying an exclusive game viewing experience away from the crowds.

Embark on the morning, afternoon, and night-time game drives in open-sided 4×4 safari vehicles, sighting a spectacular array of free-roaming wildlife. Our Masai Mara Fly-in Safari starts at the Wilson Airport in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. At 10h00 we catch a flight to Masai Mara from Wilson Airport, which handles mostly regional and domestic flights.

Landing at the Mara Olkiombo Airstrip in Masai Mara at about 11h00, a driver from the camp is there to collect you. You are transferred to the safari camp, enjoying your first game drive along the way. We arrive at the camp in time for a freshly prepared lunch, before setting off on a late afternoon game drive in the reserve.

Whilst out on our 4×4 game drive we stop for sundowners in the African bush, before returning to camp for dinner and a laid-back evening at camp.

On day two we get up early, have breakfast, and head into the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. We spend the day game viewing in the scenic Masai Mara Reserve, sighting a plethora of African wildlife.

Keep your eyes out for the Big Five, along with the abundance of plains game roaming freely in this vast wilderness area. The Mara host large populations of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards (four of the Big Five), and plenty of others, such as cheetahs and giraffes. We take a picnic with us and stop for lunch in Masai Mara, heading back to camp later in the afternoon. 

Begin with breakfast on day three followed by an early morning game viewing adventure. We take a game drive or guided bush walk with a Maasai guide in one of the private conservation areas (Ol Kinyei or Naboisho Conservancies).

After breakfast back at camp, we pack up and say goodbye to the wild Mara ecosystem, retracing our steps to the Mara Olkiombo Airstrip. The scheduled flight to Nairobi departs at about 11h00 and arrives at Wilson Airport at about 12h15, bringing this Masai Mara Fly-in Safari to a close.
