Castle Forest Lodge Mount Kenya is an eco-tourism hotel located in the thick forest on the slopes to the south of Mount Kenya in Kimunye Kirinyaga District in Kerugoya. It is a 3 hours’ drive from Nairobi off the Kutus-Kianyaga road.

The lodge is located 1 km from Mount Kenya National Park, 40 km from Sagana via Kagio and 25 km Kerugoya Stadium. The lodge has hosted both Queen Elizabeth and President Jomo Kenyatta when they were students. 

Castle Forest Lodge Mount Kenya has cottages, bungalows and standard rooms all with en-suite bathrooms, chalets and a camping site.

8 Cottages – These are round huts for one or two people with a double or two single beds. Each hut has its individual theme, a private en-suite shower and toilet and a fire place where a fire is lit at night.

3 bungalows – There are 3 Bungalows with 2 bedrooms each, a living room with fire place, a Verandah overlooking the fields, the forest and the valley in the distance. Each bungalow has a shower and toilet. There are two standard Bungalows, which are in the original style. And one “Luxury” Bungalow recently renovated which is a more spacious and has a hammock.

Budget rooms – There are three rooms in the Main House, which was built in 1910, one double and two twins. They share shower and toilet and are above the kitchen, bar, and restaurant.

Chalets (chalet montane- sleeps 4) & (chalet telluride-3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) – These are two beautiful freestanding chalets available. Each with ample space, a fully equipped kitchen, a large living room and a splendid view of Mount Kenya.

Camping site – There are three rooms in the Main House, which was built in 1910, one double and two twins. They share shower and toilet and are above the kitchen, bar, and restaurant.

Guests can enjoy meals in the onsite restaurant. Snacks are available throughout the day and so are drinks from the well-stocked bar. Guests can relax and unwind on the leisure veranda with views of the indigenous rain forest.

There is a conference room that offers ideal venue for small meetings and training sessions. The outdoor pool is situated on the border of the rain forest and is often visited by elephants seeking refreshment during the dry seasons.
