Cheptebo Rural Development Centre Kerio Valley

Cheptebo Rural Development Centre Kerio Valley is located in the heart of the beautiful southern Kerio Valley in Elgeiyo Marakwet, 33 kilometers from Iten to the west. The farm is 20 kilometers from Kabarnet which lies to the east.

The Cheptebo Training and Conference Centre has facilities available for conferences, seminars, workshops, training, meetings, and private retreats. The center is dedicated to offering superb conference and residential facilities in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere for families and groups of any size.

Four fully equipped conference halls are available in the recently completed Conference building. These halls can accommodate from 10 up to 200 delegates and various hall layouts can be arranged to suit group requirements. The largest hall can hold up to 200 guests. The halls are ideal for meetings, seminars, and conferences. Guests on the farm may learn about livestock husbandry and crop production.

Data projection equipment is available for hire and internet facilities are available free of charge. The Centre Chaplain is available to lead morning and evening acts of worship.

Residential accommodation for up to 100 guests is available in a variety of options. There are single and double rooms, both standard and en suite as well as luxury en suite cottages. The guestrooms are fitted with mosquito nets, tile/marble floors, and work desks. Some guestrooms have en-suite bathrooms while others have shared bathrooms.

Accommodation is available for groups attending conferences and other events at the Conference center and accommodation can also be booked for individuals and families for private retreats. Cheptebo Training and Conference Centre has a modern, fully equipped kitchen that serves a full range of meals and snacks.

Fresh produce is sourced from their farm and from local suppliers to produce high-quality, delicious meals. There are two dining halls available and meals and snacks can also be served in attractive outdoor locations on site. All meals must be booked in advance.

Areas of interest near the farm include Torok Falls, Cheploch Gorge, Cheploch Gorge, and the local flora and fauna of the Kerio Valley.

Torok Falls

A 10 km guided walk in the southern Kerio Valley. A local guide will lead you through the spectacular, unspoiled countryside of Elgeyo Marakwet County, rich in tropical vegetation, wildlife, and local culture. The falls are 200 metres in height and are accessible only by foot. The walk takes between 4 and 5 hours and requires a reasonable level of physical fitness.

The walk to Torok Falls starts on the C51 Iten- Kabarnet road, 21 km south of Iten. Part of the route is accessible to 4-wheel drive vehicles.
