Chumbe Island Coral Park Hotel is a small eco-lodge located in Chumbe Island Coral Park, a private nature reserve on Chumbe Island off Zanzibar. The reserve includes a fully protected Coral Reef Sanctuary and Forest Reserve that harbor rare wildlife, a Visitor, and an Education center. 

Chumbe Island Coral Park island is only accessed via a boat transfer from Mbweni, approximately 3.7 miles from Stone Town.  The transfer takes approximately 45 minutes by boat from Mbweni Beach.

The island’s accommodation and guest lodge are constructed with state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly architecture and are designed to have near zero impact on the environment.

The technology includes rainwater catchment, photovoltaic energy, solar water heating, composting toilets, and vegetative greywater filtration. Hence, during your stay, you can rest assured that you are keeping the island pristine.

Chumbe Island has only 7 exclusive eco-bungalows designed to have zero impact on the environment. The bungalows are so brilliantly designed that they provide both privacy and a sense of freedom of living in the open.

All bungalows overlook the sea and it takes just 30 seconds to stroll from the comforts of your bungalow hammock to feeling the warm tropical ocean lapping at your feet.

Dining takes place in open-air terraces overlooking the Indian Ocean in the afternoon, and under palm trees and stars in the evening. Talented chefs prepare mouthwatering dishes that are a mixture of Zanzibarian, Arabic, Indian and African cuisine.

Fresh, local seafood, meat, vegetables, and fruits are used to create some of the most delicious dishes in Zanzibar which satisfy both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Chumbe Island’s best Zanzibari recipes have been compiled into a small cookbook that is available in our Island Boutique.

Activities available include; snorkeling through the unique shallow water Coral Reef Sanctuary, joining guided nature/forest walks/coconut crab walk/intertidal walk, and gazing at historical monuments. Or just allow yourself a lazy day and relax by watching dhows and outrigger boats going by.
