Country Lodge Karatu Tanzania is a mid-range accommodation facility located on the outskirts of Karatu, a small country town in the Ngorongoro Highlands, midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, about 70 m or 113 km from Arusha.

Karatu District is located between three major natural features in the Arusha region. It is bordered to the east by Lake Manyara and to the southwest, the district is bordered by Lake Eyasi. In the northeast, the district is bordered by the Ngorongoro Crater rim.

Country Lodge Karatu Tanzania symbolizes simple country comforts, providing pleasant and affordable lodging in the heart of Tanzania’s rich and scenic highlands. We are the ideal ‘Stepping Stone’ for safaris into Ngorongoro Crater and beyond, as well as other travelers visiting the area.

Country Lodge Karatu Tanzania has 12 double cottages situated around the swimming pool. The rooms are tastefully furnished with soft lighting, inviting and comfortable beds, mosquito netting, and bedside tables.

Country Lodge Karatu Tanzania sits within five acres nestled on the edge of Karatu town, surrounded by rolling plains reaching up to the coffee hills of Oldeani and the forests of Ngorongoro.

Garden paths led to 12 double cottages surrounded by green lawns, hedged by brightly flowering bougainvillea, tropical plants, and trees. Birds and butterflies feel right at home in the garden, as you will in our lodgings.

Activities available from the lodge include; Shop in town, village Visits, Visit a brickmaker, cultural tour, visit a coffee plantation, Birding in the garden, Hike in the Ngorongoro Forest, Visit Lake Manyara National Park, trip to Ngorongoro Crater, or Visit the nearby Lake Eyasi for cultural encounters.

Just a short drive away is the home of the Hadzabe, one of only two true Bushmen tribes surviving in Africa. The intriguing Barabaig people and Datoga people also live near Lake Eyasi – a dry and fascinating area lost in time and steeped in cultural history.
