Crater Lake Game Sanctuary Naivasha 2 Days 1 Night Safari is a short overnight wildlife holiday to Crater Lake Game Sanctuary located 2 hours from Nairobi. Like Hell’s Gate National Park, it is allowed to explore this park on foot with a local guide.

This area is alive with hundreds of bird species, including the secretary bird, kingfisher, and fish eagle. Wildlife seen while on foot includes gazelle, giraffe, zebra, and eland.

You will also likely see baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, leopards, Serval cats, caracals, and aardvarks – just to name a few. You can also take a short walk to the rim of the beautiful volcanic crater, with views down to the emerald-green lake.

Depending on the water levels of other Rift Valley lakes, there are sometimes large populations of flamingos on the lake.

Day Game Drives: This is possible by a self-drive vehicle, although you may request a guide who is available for a reasonable fee

Naivasha Boat Rides: There is a boat available for guests. A good way to see flamingos and the Colobus monkey

Naivasha Candle-Lit Dinner: Given a fine night, you dine under the stars on the jetty. Particularly romantic at a full moon

Night Game Drives: In our vehicle or yours, and if the latter, you will hire a spotlight and a guide. You will have a chance to see grazing hippos, aardvarks, spring hares, and leopards (if you are lucky), and a good number of nocturnal species

Naivasha BirdLife; over 400 species, of which it is easy to spot, including Flamingos, Little Grebes, Cape Teal and Ruff, Pelicans, Herons, African Fish Eagle, Storks, Pied Avocets, Geese, etc

Naivasha Nature Walks: Guided walks will take you through the trails at the lake shore, the rim, or even the Sanctuary where you can see a good number of wild animals at a very close range

0800 Hours: Our exciting & fun adventure road trip departs from Nairobi, taking us through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, then to saline Lake Oloiden.

Crater Lake Game Sanctuary is located after the Kongoni village in Naivasha and has abundant wildlife in its small forest, set at the foot of the Crater Lake volcano.

1200 Hours: Arrive at the Crater Lake Game Sanctuary and proceed to your hotel for check-in, followed by lunch.

1530 Hours: You will enjoy a game drive in the fenced sanctuary covering an area of 10,000 acres. The landscape is breathtaking, as the small crater is surrounded by a pink-bordered, green-salted lake that is a habitat for flamingos and other birds.

The tiny jade-green crater lake is held in high regard by the local Masai, who even believe its water helps soothe ailing cattle. The volcanic crater is also home to Colobus monkeys.

1830 Hours: Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
