Crescent Island Hippo House

Crescent Island Hippo House is located on Crescent Island Game Sanctuary on Lake Naivasha. It is one of the most beautiful parks in Kenya and is often called Naivasha’s best-kept secret. Perfect for Wildlife Watching, Bird Enthusiasts, and all wilderness fans. The island is currently only accessible by boat. It is a convenient two-hour drive (and a short boat ride!) from Nairobi. It is one of the first vacation properties on Crescent Island Game Sanctuary.

Please note that check-in time is between 2 pm and 5 pm, and the last boat leaves at 5 pm. For safety reasons, please do not arrive later than 5 pm as boats cannot run safely after dark. To get to the boat and leave your car, please follow the Crescent Island sign located 3.82 kilometers from the South Lake turnoff on the right-hand side. You will need to provide your car registration details to sign in. Please note that it is private property, and there are strict speed restrictions in place due to wild animals roaming free. We advise our guests not to walk around except for getting to the shops and between the luggage drop-off point and the car park.

The boat ride takes approximately 10 minutes, and each boat can carry a maximum of 7 people. One return boat transfer is included in the price, but you may need an extra boat depending on the number of people and luggage. Crescent Island Hippo House is perfect for your next getaway where you can enjoy a true safari experience with the all comforts of home.  All conservancy fees for this stunning sanctuary are included in the price when you book the house. Please note this is a functioning sanctuary so that boats will land on the shore nearby with day visitors.

 Crescent Island Hippo House is a spacious and comfortable home that can accommodate up to 10 guests (recommended for 6). With three bedrooms, including ensuite and separate bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, and a cozy living room with a wood-burning fireplace, you’ll have everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Outside, you can unwind in the additional chill-out areas and dine al fresco.

Crescent Island Hippo House is self-catering but we have a cook included in the price to assist you with preparing meals throughout your stay. We provide filtered rainwater but not bottled drinking water.

Room 1: has 1 queen and 1 single bed with en-suite bathroom.
Room 2: has 1 queen bed 1 single bed, 1 bunk bed, and an en-suite bathroom
Room 3: has 1 double and separate bathroom just outside

Outside, guests will appreciate the expansive deck with lake views and inviting sofas. All houses are solar-powered and surrounded by an electric fence. The house can sleep a maximum of 6 guests. The kitchen comes with cooking basics, cutlery and cooking equipment, a fridge, freezer, gas stove, and cook to assist you with meals. We provide filtered rainwater for cooking and drinking (if you want bottled water you must bring it yourself). This house is entirely self-catering and we do not arrange or provide any food for guests.

Crescent Island Hippo House Accommodation Rates Exclude;

* Night game drives – 5,000 Kenya Shillings per drive, maximum 6 people
* Boat rides – 4,000 Kenya Shillings  per hour, maximum 7 people per boat
* Guided walks – 1,500 Kenya Shillings per adult and 500 Kenya Shillings per child
* Boat transfers cost – 2,000 Kenya Shillings (20 US Dollars) per transfer – Maximum 7 people per boat
