Desert Rose Lodge Turkana

Desert Rose Lodge Turkana is a bush home nestled quietly on the Southern slopes of Mount Nyiru, which towers majestically above the Elbarta plains, between Karisia Mountains and Lake Turkana in North Kenya. The lodge is about 350 km from Nairobi. By road, it’s a 10 hours drive from Nairobi. By plane: You can take the Desert Rose plane up to the lodge which gives you the freedom of doing the adventure of flying up to the lake. Take any scheduled flight to Nanyuki followed by the tropic Air charter to Desert Rose, or by private charter from Nairobi. There are 5 charismatic cottages all built and crafted to blend with the surrounding nature.

Desert Rose Lodge Turkana 5 houses accommodating up to 12 guests are individually designed, with 5 cottages, 2 cottages have double beds, 2 cottages have twin beds and a family house.

Each cottage has its own patio, wild-olive beds, a private flush toilet, and an open-air en-suite bathroom with a bath tab. The main lounge and a pool area have been handcrafted to blend with the indigenous gardens and landscaped to enhance the dramatic views.

In the main lounge, guests have at their disposal a fully stocked bar, a sitting room, and a fireplace. Guests can also relax and unwind in the outdoor bonfire in a specially prepared fire site.

Activities in Desert Rose lodge include game drives, guided nature walks, scenic drives, bush meals, sundowners, camel-assisted walks, bird watching, and fishing trips to Lake Turkana and Turkana/ Samburu village visits.

The lodge is close to the historic Samburu communities and other villages such as Turkana and El Molo. The Koobi Fora and Suguta Valley are also in close proximity to the lodge.

How to Get to Desert Rose

By road: It’s about a 500km drive to Desert Rose from Nairobi, a 10-hour journey by 4×4 vehicle. African Spice Safaris will provide you with an amazing ride to the lodge, with view of stunning landscapes at 500 US Dollars one way per vehicle.

By air: Take any charter flight from Nairobi to Desert Rose Airstrip- Kowop or charter flight from Nanyuki.
