El Karama Wild Camp Laikipia
El Karama Wild Camp is an exclusive-use, under-canvas bush camp aimed at small groups seeking a deeper level of immersion in nature. Whether a stand-alone camp or a private extension to an El Karama Lodge stay, this camp is unique and versatile. El Karama Wild Camp is located in the heart of Laikipia on El Karama Ranch, a 14,000-acre cattle ranch with stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife and birds.
The camp is located 42 km from Nanyuki town and 234 km from Nairobi. The transfer from Nanyuki airport takes about an hour, two-thirds of it on earth roads and the last 20 minutes on the El Karama access road. Air transfers from Nanyuki to El Karama airstrip (charter only), take around 10 minutes. It takes about 4 hours to drive from Nairobi to the camp.
El Karama Wild Camp consists of 4 light and spacious bedroom tents designed with a natural, organic aesthetic to maximize comfort and serenity. We let the bush speak for itself, with Nature providing that element of luxury that no person can offer. Savor organic food grown on the conservancy and enjoy innovative hearty menus that celebrate our climate and culinary heritage.
The experience is about privacy and simplicity on safari. You have total freedom to curate how you spend your day. Hosted by a small team of kind and experienced camp staff and led by a resident guide, this camp can feel like home.
Each meal is prepared in a bush kitchen, cooked in cast iron pans, and over open fires. El Karama Wild Camp is designed for one group only at a time, guests have their own game drive vehicle on hand, an expert walking guide to hosting them, and access to add-ons like bush-savvy horses for riding excursions and helicopters for day trips further afield.
