Enjojo Lodge Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda

Enjojo Lodge is a safari accommodation facility located in Ishasha Sector opposite Ishasha Gate, in the valley, approximately 2.5 km off the Katunguru-Kihihi road. ‘Enjojo Lodge’ means ‘elephant’ in the local Rukiga language.

The lodge offers a relaxed and comfortable retreat on 40 hectares of land in the middle of an acacia forest, scattered grassland, and lush vegetation with palm trees. The lodge offers several different types of accommodation (Thatched Luxury Cottages, Safari House, Safari tents self-contained, Bamboo Huts & Safari Tents non-self-contained as well as Camping).

Thatched Cottages: These are 7 luxury cottages; Each cottage has its own unique charm and character. Four cottages are situated in lush vegetation with swaying palm trees and are accessible by a wooden elevated walkway leading to and from the restaurant.

Three cottages are overlooking an open grassland where elephants are regular visitors.  Each cottage has its own en-suite bathroom with solar hot and cold running water and a wonderful outdoor shower. From easy chairs on the spacious verandah, you can unwind, relax and enjoy the African wilderness.

Safari House:  privately set in a clearing at the edge of an acacia forest. This house is the perfect getaway for families or groups of friends seeking an indulgent and private break. It can accommodate up to 7 guests. There are two very spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom with solar hot and cold running water and an outdoor shower.

One room is equipped with a queen-size bed and two single beds and the other room has two double beds (140 cm wide) and one single bed.   The Safari House has a superb thatched verandah with a large sitting area opening out onto the grassland with a private campfire.

Safari tents self-contained: En-suite safari tents in the middle of an acacia forest offer comfortable accommodation in a real bush experience. Each tent is solar-powered and has its own private terrace with easy chairs and own bathroom with an outdoor shower.

Bamboo Huts & Safari Tents non-self-contained: These are budget-friendly non-self-contained accommodations and although not self-contained, the huts and tents are solar-powered, comfortable, and equipped with beds, bed linen, and towels. The tents share outdoor shower facilities made of rocks and clean toilets.

Camping: The campsite is set away from the main lodge in a bush area with plenty of acacia and local trees. There are two simple kitchen areas with a fire pit and seating. Water and firewood are provided.  Campers can use our outdoor showers made of rocks and clean toilet facilities.

The lodge is entirely solar-powered and constructed with local materials to blend in with the surrounding environment and Most of the furniture and decoration have been hand-crafted by the local community. From the grass-thatched restaurant and bar, you can enjoy our homemade food from our organic garden while viewing the scenic beauty of a small natural lake.

Big herds of elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes are regular visitors to the lodge while vervet monkeys, baboons, and black and white colobus have become residents. Not to forget the abundant birdlife, which makes Enjojo a dream environment for birders!

Activities available from Enjojo Lodge include Game Drives, Bush Breakfast In The Park, Bush Camping In The Park, Morning/ Evening Visit To Rwenshama Fishing Village, Birding At Enjojo Lodge, Fishing, Nature Walk & Community Walk, And Bicycle Tours.
