Fanjove Private Island Lodge consists of eco-friendly private bandas located on Fanjove Island, a private Island located south of Dar es Salaam and part of the Songo Songo Archipelago, Southern Tanzania. 

This exquisite natural setting is like a fount of Arcadian dreams and literary legend. As a secluded island, guests share Fanjove only with the abundant resident marine life, and of course, our dedicated staff, who help to deliver the experience of a lifetime.

Guests will fly from Dar es Salaam via Mafia Island to Songo Songo island. Coastal Aviation fly twice a day approximately 50 minutes flying time. From Songo Songo airport it is a short ride to the shoreline for a 45-minute boat/dhow trip across to Fanjove island.

There are 6 discreet, eco-friendly private bandas set along the sandy shore in complete harmony with the environment.   The bandas are A-framed, shaped to resemble a Dhow sail, reflecting the local traditional sailing boats which may break the endless horizons as you gaze out to sea.

Each banda is open at its front to capitalize on the uninterrupted ocean views, which can also be enjoyed from the upstairs balcony. The whole property has been designed to minimize its environmental footprint.

Solar power is employed for all the rooms, and the buildings use traditional, natural materials – sustainable wood, Mukuti (palm leaves), and thatch.  Simple, stylish, comfortable, and completely in keeping with the unpretentious Fanjove vibe, the accommodation provides the perfect base from which to explore the island, shores, and seas.

An open-air restaurant and lounge area is the ideal focal point at the end of the day, from where to gaze at the starlit skies and appreciate the undisturbed surroundings. Appetizing fusion cuisine is served on understated yet stylishly-dressed tables on the beach.

The menu reflects the multicultural heritage of the islands and may include outstanding curries or freshly caught fish of the day. For a truly unparalleled experience, sundowners at the top of the 19th-century lighthouse can be arranged.

Full board accommodation + Activities on a shared basis in bush camps and Fanjove + Scheduled road transfers to/from our airstrips; boat transfers from Songo Songo to Fanjove island, Local beverages (except cocktails, champagne & premium brands) + Basic laundry & Value Added Tax of 18%

Included Activities on a shared basis – Sunset dhow cruise, boat snorkeling trip, dolphin/whaleboat excursion, half-day sandbank/beach picnic, kayak, SUP, snorkeling off the beach, island walk

Notes:

* The minimum age is 6 years
* A child occupying a single room will be charged the full rate
* Children under 16 years are not permitted to walk or fly camp due to safety reasons
* Child rate applies to all under 16 years in Fanjove, sharing with an adult or another child
* Only available to a third person under 19 years and will be charged the applicable rate and are subject to availability
* Mooring and day fee of 50 US Dollars per person per night. Standard rates and policies apply for meals, beverages, and activities
* A mandatory supplement of 15 US Dollars per person per stay is added for emergency evacuation. All guests MUST have personal travel and medical insurance
