Forodhani House Shella Beach Lamu Island is a beach front holiday house situated at the beginning of Shella Beach, 3.5 kilometers from the 18th Century Swahili House Museum.

Shella Beach is 12 kilometers long pristine white sand beach in the Island of Lamu. The Lamu Archipelago is located 470 km’s southeast of Nairobi, in the Indian Ocean.

The large whitewashed building with a unique location directly on the beach is built in authentic Swahili style.

The 4 leveled house features antique furniture, carved teak front door, or niches and hand-carved friezes in  every room, woven carpets and old chests.

There are 5 en-suite bedrooms that can comfortably accommodate 10-13 guests. The bedrooms comprise of 3 double rooms, 1 triple, room and 1double room with an extra single bed.

The ground floor features a double room, well equipped kitchen, corridor pool, dining area on a covered terrace, galleries and terraces and main lounge with sofas.

The first floor has 1 triple room, 1 double room with a large baraza area on its private terrace and  study bedroom with a library, and an en suite bathroom.

The second floor has the master bedroom with a drawing room, and one private covered terrace and another open one. There is also a lounge area with a baraza bed where a guest can relax.

The third floor is huge open terrace, with cushions, mattresses, lanterns, which allows you to see the entire archipelago. This is an ideal place for  dinner, coffee or drinks and under stars and moon.

The house is on self catering or catered basis where they can cook their own meals or have the cook prepare meals for them.

The cook prepares international cuisine mixed with delicious plates of seafood, sushi or traditional Swahili cuisine. Guest can enjoy a relaxing massage or beauty treatments as well as  yoga classes.

Forodhani has shady verandas, daybeds, well manicured garden and 10 meters long outdoor pool where guests can take a dip in the hot days.

Activities in Forodhani House Shella Beach Lamu Island include beach walks, beach runs, kites surfing, water skiing, wind surfing, wake board, kayaking, deep sea fishing and scuba diving.

Guests can also enjoy dhow sailing, sunset cruise, village visits, marine reserve exploration, picnics, whales watching, swimming with dolphins and barbecue on deserted beaches.

* Linen. Bed linen, mosquito nets and house towels are supplied
* Air and boat transfers. One Manda airstrip to Shela return boat transfer is included in the rental price
* Water. There is a good supply of fresh water from the house well for showers. There is a water purifying system, which supplies clean water to the kitchen, and carafes are supplied in the rooms
* Use of the house : The house cannot be used for any purpose other than that of a private holiday house residence. Weddings, honeymoons, receptions and large parties can be catered for only on request.
* Occupancy : The rental contract is for a fixed number of guests whose identities must correspond to the passport identities supplied at the moment of the booking. In case that effective guests number exceeded the booked number, the rates will have to be automatically adjusted to the Single/ Double staff option to which the occupancy corresponds. Extra bed, over 13 Guests , will be charged 50 Euro per bed per day
* Forodhani Beach House Lamu Does not accept more than 15 guests in the house or 30 guests in the gardens, except for special receptions we previously agreed
