Governors Private Camp is a luxury camp situated in the Musiara area right in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The camp is nestled in a private spot in the Riverine forest on a secluded bend of the Mara River.

Masai Mara Game Reserve is 322 km from Nairobi approximately 6 hours by road. Scheduled flight from Nairobi Wilson Airport fly to Musiara Airstrip which is the closest airstrip to Governors Private Camp just 15 minutes drive away. Flying time takes approximately 45 minutes.

Governors Private Camp often referred to as the ‘jewel in the Governor’s Camp crown’ has 8 large comfortable tents, all en-suite with hot and cold running water showers and basins and flush toilets. The tents are luxurious with handmade furniture and have a private verandah with authentic furniture.

The camps are positioned on wooden platforms with extended verandahs – designed to offer guests the traditional safari experience of times gone by. There is electric lighting in the tent and charging facilities and a new bar and dining tent overlooking the Mara River with wi-fi.

The private Camp can either be booked by one family or group at a time, so it’s yours to enjoy as the name suggests – in private. The camp can also be booked on a tent-by-tent basis to share with others.

The camp location is a perfect spot where a variety of animals come to drink, hippos laze in the shallows and elephants bring their calves for a playful dip. The forest around the camp is home to many beautiful birds from rare Trogons and Turacos to nesting Hornbills.

Governors Private Camp Masai Mara has an open bar and dining tent with a view over the Mara River. The executive chef ensures that the food is of the highest possible quality and the meals are served on fine china and crystal. The food is delicious, our desserts have been called “sinful”, and the drinks are all included, except for champagne.

Governors Private Camp Masai Mara activities include; game drives, game walks, air balloon safaris, village visits, sun-downers, photography safaris, bush dinners, and day excursions to Lake Victoria. There is a spa in the camp where guests can get massage services as they relax.
