Hildana Lodge, Hildana Sanctuary, Tsavo West National Park, is a family-friendly safari destination located about 37 km from Voi town along the Taveta Road in Mwatate Sisal Estate (a 5,000-acre private sanctuary) at the foot of the Taita Hills. This small, exclusive property promises total privacy and unfettered access to amazing wildlife and birding opportunities.

The lodge is adjacent to the beautiful, family-owned Mwatate Sisal Estate. The Hildana sanctuary forms a part of the farm and speaks to the family’s passion and commitment to the conservation of wildlife and the surrounding environment.

Hildana Lodge Accommodation

Sleeping a total of 20 people, the lodge is made up of 5 main double rooms, all ensuite with their own private verandas, 2 family units which consist of a double room and a twin room both ensuite with a shared open living space and a honeymoon suite consisting of a large double room, with an ensuite bathroom hosting a large bathtub and shower with a view of the Taita Hills and surrounding bush, with a secluded private garden area.

How to get to Hildana Lodge

By Road: From Voi town, Hildana Lodge is approximately 37 km away from Voi town. Drive 22 km down the Taveta Road to reach the main farm gate, then continue 14 km through the sisal farm and sanctuary to the lodge. The drive through the farm typically takes around 40 minutes.

By Air: The lodge has a private airstrip on the farm, known as Mwatate Airstrip, available to all guests. Flights should be booked in advance to ensure the strip is cleared and someone is there to receive you upon arrival.

Hildana Lodge offers fresh, organic meals with a Mediterranean influence, reflecting the heritage of the founding family. The lodge kitchen follows a developing farm-to-fork approach, using homegrown produce from our on-site sustainable farm. Guests dine alongside the hosting management team, who share insights into lodge life, community engagement, and the surrounding wilderness.

The sundowner tradition is also observed at Hildana. Enjoy a drink by the pool, during a game drive, or on an evening walk as the sun sets. For a more immersive experience, the lodge can prepare bush breakfasts or lunches, allowing you to dine in the open air.
