Jozani Forest Day Trip from Stone Town is an exciting trip to Zanzibar’s first and only national park, centered on Jozani Forest and located 35 km from Stone Town, the largest area of mature forest within Zanzibar.

Jozani Forest has trees older than 100 years and is home to some very interesting and rare animals, including the Red Colobus monkey, the small Zanzibar leopard, blue monkey, chameleon, mongoose, bush baby, tree hyrax, bush pig, and civet.

It is also the home to two small antelope species found only on Zanzibar, the Zanzibar duiker and the Zanzibar sun. The Jozani Forest tour, Zanzibar day trip, departs from your hotel/residence at 0730 Hours and is a 3-hour guided excursion.

The best time to see the wildlife at Jozani is early in the morning and in the evening, when nature is at its most lively. The park opens daily between 0730 Hours and 1700 Hours. The forest has over 2,512ha (6,207 acres), including the whole groundwater forest, coral rag forest & salt marsh area. Jozani Forest contains about 100 tree species across 43 families.

Your tour will be led by a well-trained guide who can provide information on other inhabitants of the forest, including the red-bellied coast squirrel, the endangered Aders’ duiker, the Zanzibar Suni, the black-and-white rufous elephant shrew, and the tree hyraxes.
