Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara

Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara is an eco-friendly luxury camp situated along the banks of the Mara River, in the beautiful Mara North Conservancy. The camp is situated in southern Kenya on the north-western border of the famed Masai Mara National Reserve in the Koiyaki Lemek Conservation area. 

The closest Airstrip to Karen Blixen Camp is Shikar Airstrip with an approximately 40-minute drive to the Camp. Other Airstrips are Kichwa Tembo or Mara Safari Club. The drive from Nairobi to Karen Blixen Camp takes approximately 5-6 Hours while flights from Nairobi Wilson airport take about 45 minutes.

Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara has 22 large luxury canvas tents, each set on a beautiful mahogany platform with a spacious veranda completed with cushion daybeds from which one can enjoy an afternoon siesta, taking in the wonderful surroundings. All tents are placed with undisturbed private game viewing to the Oloololo Escarpment and its rich wildlife.

Each tent is en-suite with a flush toilet, twin washes hand basins, and furnished with a large comfortable bed, Persian rugs, and a cozy armchair giving you the ultimate in camping luxury. Water is heated using solar panels to avoid any use of firewood and thus conserving the Mara Woodlands.

Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara has an open ‘mess’ area, built on a raised wooden deck, is beautifully located on the banks of the Mara River overlooking a resident hippo pod. The mess is having a reception, restaurant, and lounge area with a home-style bar.

Meals are both international and Kenya’s own traditional cooking and are also served alongside the African continent’s finest wines. The camp offers a wide range of wellness treatments and therapeutic body massages (African Kukanda tradition) using organic African oils only.

Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara has a conference center set on the banks of Mara River and is well suited for meetings and events with extensive facilities and a wide array of dining options including bush dining.

The Kikao Centre can comfortably accommodate up to 60 persons in a theatre-style setup. There is also an outdoor pool with sunbeds and umbrellas where guests can relax and enjoy a refreshing drink.

Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara activities include game drives, game walks, birding, village visits, eco-camp walks, and hot air balloon safaris. The camp also facilitates weddings.
