Kigelia Ruaha Camp Tanzania

Kigelia Ruaha Camp Tanzania is a luxury bush camp set on the banks of the Ifuguru Sand River, set beneath the boughs of the Kigelia Africana also known as the (sausage tree) in the Eastern Region Of Ruaha National Park.

Scheduled or Charter flight land at the Msembe airstrip which is the nearest airstrip followed by a 45-minute drive to the camp. Kigelia Camp is located in one of the best areas for wildlife in Ruaha National Park, with large herds of elephants, numerous sightings of big cats, and prolific birdlife.

Kigelia Camp is a well-designed camp and is perfectly located for game viewing within Ruaha National Park. The area around the camp is particularly good for wildlife, but the black cotton soils here mean their wet season closed period can be longer than some other camps in Ruaha.

Kigelia Ruaha Camp Tanzania has 6 tents furnished with locally crafted wooden furniture and en suite bathrooms with a wonderful safari-style outdoor bucket shower. One of the tents is the family tent which has two adjoining bedrooms.

There is a camp kitchen, dining tent, free WI-FI, and campfire. Kigelia has indoor and outdoor dining as well as fire-side sundowners in the shade of kigelia trees. Bush breakfasts are also provided.

Ruaha is believed to have a high concentration of elephants than any national park in East Africa. It is also a place where, magnificent mammals like Kudu (both Greater and Lesser), Sable, and Roan antelopes can easily be spotted in Miombo woodland.

The male Kudu have beautiful spiraled horns while the male Sable antelope have impressive curved horns. The park is also a habitat for endangered wild dogs. Other animals in the park include lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, elands, impalas, bat-eared foxes, and Jackals.

Activities available from Kigelia Ruaha include; game drives, Birding, and walking safaris. Kigelia’s lovely location is also an attractive spot for local birdlife and many an early morning or afternoon can be spent wandering around camp with a pair of binoculars to see what’s around.

Check-in – Check-out Time

* Rooms will be available from 1300hrs on the day of arrival. Early check-in will be subject to the manager’s discretion on the day of arrival
* Rooms must be vacated by 1000hrs. Clients wishing to keep their rooms for longer will be charged 75% of the room rate in the High Season and 50% in the Low Season

Children’s Rates & Policy

* The minimum age is 8 years to 21 years
* Child park entry and camping/concession fees apply for up to 16 years
* Children aged 12 years and under must share a room or family tent/room with an adult
* Children under 12 years are not permitted to walk, chimp, or fly camp due to safety reasons
* A child occupying a single room will be charged at the full adult rate plus a single supplement

Family Rooms & Triple – Family rooms sleep 2 Adults and 2 Children

*  The camp can accommodate up to two triples in each camp – the third bed in a room is suitable for up to 16 years only and we do not allow 3 adults in a triple
