Kirurumu Manyara Lodge is a 3-star lodge situated on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, enjoying a marvelous, uplifting and panoramic view eastward over Lake Manyara, the Rift floor, and Mt. Losimingori. Behind Kirurumu, the Ngorongoro Highlands rise in green and fertile splendor and form the gateway to Ngorongoro Crater and, finally, Olduvai Gorge, the Serengeti.

The lodge is situated 20 minutes drive from Lake Manyara National Park and 15 minutes from Lake Manyara Airstrip. The park lies 3 km from the small town of Mto wa Mbu, Northern Tanzania (130 km west of Arusha via the Arusha-Serengeti road – approximately 1.5 hours journey). 

Besides a supporting cast of buffalo, antelope, zebra, and giraffe, Lake Manyara is home to a growing elephant population while the park’s lions have developed the intriguing habit of climbing trees. This varied habitat attracts a wide variety of wildlife animals and the algae growing in the lake, attract large flocks of flamingos.

Kirurumu Manyara Lodge Tanzania has 27 tented rooms, 2 honeymoon suites, and 2 family cottages all en-suite. All include a personal verandah that overlooks the Rift valley escarpment over Lake Manyara. All are positioned a short distance from the communal lodge, along well-laid pathways.

The site covers over 5 hectares and all units are spaced well apart. Each standard room is mounted on a plinth and has a wooden veranda at the front, accessed via a few steps to the side. The frame of each structure is wooden too, and it supports a pitched thatch roof – we like the rustic design of these buildings. 

Inside, there is a double bed, twin beds, or triples, as well as bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, and en-suite facilities comprising a flush toilet, washbasin, and shower with hot and cold running water. The staff provides drinking water, and every tent has 24-hour electricity. 

The main buildings (dining room and reception) within the camp are comfortably and modestly decorated, however, the bar area is certainly the highlight. Request a hot cup of tea of freshly ground and brewed local coffee at your doorstep with a gentle wake-up call.

Other facilities available include; Fully ensuite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, Wifi designated area, and Housekeeping services.
