Lamu Island Kipungani Village 1-Day Boat Tour is a full-day boat trip around the island of Lamu (from 0900 Hours to 17 Hours). Visits two of the most popular villages on Lamu Island – Matondoni and Kipungani.
Sailing around the island to visit the old Swahili village of Matondoni, where traditional lateen-sailed boats (dhows) are built, and the lovely village of Kipungani with its wonderful beach. Lunch is included. Matondoni village is known for the building and repair of dhows, and it lies on the North West coast of the island, some 7.3 km (4.5 miles) west of Lamu town.
Matondoni village is famous for traditional crafts such as weaving straw mats of palm leaves and coconut ropes. Kipungani villagers are friendly and hospitable, and the village itself is very attractive – an unspoiled example of coastal rural life.
