Leopard Lair self-catering bandas are 4 cottages located on the Lions Bluff Kopje. The cottages offer an exciting wilderness escape and an untamed safari experience within Lumo Community Wildlife Sanctuary.

The property is located on 48,000 acres of the private conservancy, with uninterrupted views and a vast amount of wildlife, and the game viewing remains exclusive.

Leopard Lair bandas are situated 232 kilometers from Nairobi, 50 kilometers from Tsavo East, and 48 kilometers East of Voi on the Taita-Taveta Road.  The bandas have stunning panoramic views, across miles and miles of Kenyan parkland including the majestic Kilimanjaro, The Taita Hills, the Lumo Community Sanctuary, and the Tsavo ecosystem.

Each cottage is equipped with a double and single bed – complete with bedding, hot and cold showers, and a lovely terrace overlooking the stunning Conservancy with endless views of the Savannah and mountains in the distance.

A large, common dining area & a fully functional kitchen, and a public toilet are also available. Most of our guests enjoy our delicious meals. Most of the guests enjoy the delicious full-board
accommodation though. The chef takes great pride in his home-cooked pasta, marinated steak, and chicken lasagna as well as vegan and vegetarian meals.

Spacious verandas look over a vast area of the Tsavo ecosystem from the Taita Hills, past Mt Kilimanjaro all the way to Mukamazi in Tanzania.

All meals are prepared in Leopard Lairs’ own kitchen reflecting Kenya’s great variety of fruits, vegetables, and meat. Guests can also spend the evenings watching spectacular sunsets while sipping cool drinks from the well-stocked bar. The central mess area offers all the same amenities as Lions Bluff without the bigger crowds.

Activities in the Leopard Lair Cottages Tsavo West include bush breakfasts, day game drives, nature trails, bird walks, village visits, night game drives, bush walks, and sundowners. Guests can also go for Eye Go Game Spotting (EGGS) which helps to raise awareness and funds for local community projects.

For those on a game package, the staff is on hand to assist with planning, for the activities on offer. Walking or hiking the nearby Hills is one of our favorites but more than anything Lumo is a “birders’ paradise”! Our guests are thrilled with the variety of local and migratory birds, the rarely spotted Nightjars, and 6 endemic species only found in Lumo!
