Mara House Mara North Conservancy

Mara House is nestled in the Ol Chorro Losoit Valley within the Lemek Hills deep in the 70000-acre Mara North Conservancy just north of the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

It’s a peaceful area far away from the most-visited parts of the Mara. Waterbuck and zebra wander into the grounds to graze, while lion, leopard, and cheetah prowl the plains of the community-owned conservancy. 

The camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 280 km. It usually takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time takes approximately 45 minutes. Mara North airstrip which is the closest airstrip from the camp is only 40 minutes game drive away.

Mara House has a spacious living room and plush sofas to relax in, a dining area, a fireplace, and 3 spacious en-suite double rooms which are beautifully furnished in a traditional East African style with a refreshing contemporary edge.

The house has a veranda, which offers magnificent views of the hills and valleys as well as the famous Ol Chorro waterhole. The rough tree trunks form the framework of the house and substitute for railings creating a delightful pastoral appeal and the light curtains and blinds cover the wooden framed windows giving a feeling of a country home.

Mara Bush House has a wide range of dining venues and each has a special charm to it. Guests can have breakfast and lunch on the patio or al-fresco on the lawns. Dinners can be in the indoor dining area or in the open under sparkling stars lighted with traditional lanterns. In the evening guests can have a barbecue dinner on the open veranda or by the pool.

There is an outdoor swimming pool where guests can have a swim as they relax and there is also a schoolroom close by filled with toys where children can spend time while the adults relax in between game drives.

Mara House activities include; guided walks, night game drives, sun-downers, day game drives, village visits, and participating in local community projects. Children can participate in different activities like spoor and dung identification, animal tracking, beetles, bugs, and birds.

Mara House Non-Residents Accommodation Rates are per Night & Include:

Masai Mara Park Fees

* 100 US Dollars per adult, per night from 1st January to 30th June
* 200 US Dollars per adult, per night from 1st July to 31st December
* 50 US Dollars per child, per night all year (aged 3 to 17 years inclusive)
