Mahali Mzuri luxury Camp Masai Mara

Best Masai Mara Safari Lodges and Camps: Kenya’s Masai Mara high-end safari lodges are among the world’s finest – and most expensive – hotels and offer some of the best game viewings in Africa.

The Masai Mara Game Reserve is situated in South-Western Kenya and is the Northern continuation of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Masai Mara lies about 270 km from Nairobi and takes about 4 to 5 hours by road and 45 minutes by Air. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland.

Visitors in Masai Mara experience authentic cultural interactions with the Maasai people but also witness one of nature’s biggest spectacles: the Wildebeest Migration from about July to November.

The Masai Mara also offers an excellent year-round game viewing and a wide range of accommodation options for families, couples, and honeymooners, and you’ll understand why Kenya’s flagship conservation area is one of Africa’s best-loved safari destinations.

Most of these lodges and camps lie in the private game reserves bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve, such as Mara North, Naboisho, Ol Kinyei, Olare Motorogi, and others offer abundant wildlife and have fewer tourists.

Expert guides and trackers take you right to the action in open-air safari vehicles, with regular sightings of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo) as well as an astounding diversity of other wildlife such as lion, leopard, cheetah, and elephant.

Remote and intimate, these exclusive and eco-conscious lodges offer a true small-group luxury wilderness experience, with exceptional service. Rates include mouthwatering gourmet meals and most beverages, often served alfresco, as well as morning and evening game drives.

Most camps and lodges also offer walking safaris. A word to the wise: It’s a good idea to split your time between two or more lodges into different areas in Masai Mara to maximize the diversity of game viewing. Families will be pleased to learn that many of these camps welcome children.

Some of the best Masai Mara Luxury Camps and Lodges include Porini Lion Camp, Sand River Masai Mara, Topi Mara Bush House, Saruni Mara, Sala’s Camp, Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp, Mara Intrepids Camp, Angama Mara, Cottar’s 1920s Camp, Rekero Camp, Naboisho Camp, Elephant Pepper Camp, Sanctuary Olonana, Little Governors’ Camp and Governors’ Il Moran Camp.

The Mara is a pretty big area – about 1,510 km2 (580 sq mi) – and although we’ve mentioned a notable amount of our favorite safari lodges and camps above, there are still many fantastic accommodation options available in and around this superb reserve.

From safari lodges and family-friendly hotels to authentic tented camps and even mobile camps – Scroll below where to stay in the Masai Mara.
