Mombasa 1 Day Tours Deep Sea Fishing & Big Game Fishing

Our Deep-sea sportfishing day trip from Mombasa is a great excursion for those who want to fish for the big fish. Big game fishing involves hunting fish that feed farther from shore.

We fish throughout the year. Mombasa Coast is famous for its large variety of fish. Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Kingfish, Barracuda, and Giant Trevally are frequently caught. The Billfish, Sailfish, and Striped Marlin are the most common, with the possibility of catching Black and Blue Marlin as well as Sharks.

Tuna fish are known to hang around dolphins, making it very easy to hunt. The Dolphins are protected and should not be victims of the fishing experience. For one to be sport fishing, a drive at least 30m deep is important. Most small fish hide near reefs because their food, other small fish, is there.

We arrange both single-day and multiple-day deep-sea fishing trips in Mombasa, Shimoni, Kilifi, and Watamu for individuals or groups.

A single day deep-sea fishing trip can be 4, 6, or 8 hours. Fishing destinations: In addition to fishing in Mombasa, we can arrange Fishing Safaris to Shimoni, Kilifi, or Watamu to suit your requirements, and arrange your transport and accommodation as requested.

Our Deep-sea sportfishing trip from Mombasa starts from Tamarind Village at 07.30 am, or at the time you prefer. Whilst en route to the Fishing Grounds, you pass through the entrance of the Old Dhow Harbour, and have the superb view of Mombasa’s Old Town and historic Fort Jesus, the fortress that was constructed by the Portuguese in 1593.

There are days when the fish doesn’t bite as wished, but you could be a lucky one to see Dolphins doing their acrobatics or a humpback whale splashing its enormous body in the water as they migrate along the Kenyan Coast, as well as Sea Turtles.

Guests have been fortunate to catch a sight of the world’s Largest Fish, the whale shark. This gigantic, harmless plankton-eating shark reaches up to nine (9) meters in length.

Deep-sea sportfishing trips from Mombasa include:

✓ Soft drinks and mineral water are provided
✓ All first-class fishing gear & bait required for a successful fishing trip
✓Lunchboxes, if required, should be arranged with your Hotel reception the night before.

Note: We recommend wearing sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.

Fishing Seasons in Kenya

The East African climate is governed by two monsoon seasons: The “Kusi” or South-East Monsoon and the “Kaskazi” or North-East Monsoon.
✓ The “Kaskazi” starts in November-December and lasts until late March

✓ The “Kusi” begins anytime from the end of March and may continue until the end of October

There are two definite Fishing Seasons in Kenya:

Yellowfin Tuna Season, which runs mostly from August to October
Marlin Season from November to the end of March.

However, it is possible to catch Billfish during the so-called ‘low season’ (April to July) if “weather permits”.  Mombasa is famous for its wide variety of fish, so there are many good catches when fishing in Mombasa throughout the year.

Mombasa 1 Day Tours Deep Sea Fishing Big Game Fishing | What is Expected

It is very important to dig deeper into the information about fishing farther out at sea before attempting it. Anyone who has never done it before may experience motion sickness, and one should know how to deal with it. This goes once you get used to it.

Another thing is having an experienced expert in deep-sea fishing on board; this should never be ignored. Our team will take you through the experience for fun and great results. Learning how to read nature is a great step to achieving great results.

For instance, if you see dolphins, there is a possibility that the Tuna may not be as far as they like hanging around together. At the end of the day, an achievement will always be a picture of you having hunted a big Tuna fish for a satisfying big game fishing experience.

For you to understand the fish species, what to look out for as seafood, and for other purposes, have a full-day excursion in our fish hunter motor canoe.
