The Tamarind Dhow Lunch Cruise is a premier 2-hour culinary excursion in Mombasa, departing daily (except Sundays) at 1300 Hours. The tour features a scenic sail through Tudor Creek aboard an authentic, refurbished Arab sailing boat, where guests enjoy a high-end seafood or steak lunch accompanied by live music. . 

Tamarind Dhow has been completely refurbished as a floating Restaurant, without losing any of the Traditional aspects of the original Dhow. Tamarind Dhow is now moored at the Mombasa Tamarind jetty.

Lunch includes a delicious Tamarind seafood platter with a selection of Kenya’s wonderful seafood or a prime Kenyan fillet steak, followed by fresh tropical fruit salad. Our Lunch cruise sails/ departs daily from the Mombasa Tamarind jetty at 1300 Hours and returns at 1500 Hours.

The Tamarind Dhows “Nawalilkher” and “Babulkher”  are authentic ocean-going jahazis (traditional Arab sailing boats), formerly used for cargo trading along the Kenyan Coast and to the Arab States.

The Dhows have been completely refurbished into floating restaurants without losing any of the traditional aspects of the original Dhows.

As a restaurant, “Nawalilkher” is available for individual bookings and has a seating capacity of 70 guests for dinner, leaving plenty of room for dancing on the night cruises.

By removing some of the tables, the Dhow has ample room to hold a cocktail party for up to 100 people. “Babulkher” with a capacity of 55 guests for dinner and 70 guests for cocktails, and is also available for exclusive hire.

Nawalilkher sails every day except Sunday for both the day and evening cruises.  Private charters can be organized on Sunday as required.
