The park is easy and quick to reached by boat from Mwanza. It is located 2 kilometers Southwest of Mwanza city centre and is accessed by a short boat ride for about 5 minutes from Park Offices, on the mainland.
Park Offices are easily accessed about 15 minute’s short walk from the City Centre. Saanane National Park offers beautiful natural views of surrounding islands, the lake, greenery and interesting rock formations.
It has nice hiking trails and allows for close encounters with live animals such as velvet monkeys, impala, zebras, and a variety of birds, lizards and reptiles. Saanane National Park covers an area of 2.18 square Kilometers comprises of three islets and aquatic environment.

Reptiles are also dominant; they include crocodiles, Monitor Lizards, Agama Lizards, Pancake and Leopard Tortoises, Snakes particularly Python. The aquatic part of the Park inhabits a variety of fisheries life, mainly Tilapia and Nile Perch.
